air bridges

You're one of those mithering buggers who take a cup of sugar abroad incase your next door neighbours run out aren't ya Bob. Then you've invited yourself to breakfast dinner and tea and an evening foursome together every night boring folks about Bacup and 4k TVs. Then the obligatory phone number swap and a "we'll meet again" speech at the end of the week.

Only joking pal, you're ace; )

Quickly dear, our new found friends are awaiting at the beach.

Why would any country want to allow us contaminated Brits in?

Money??
Yeah, the whole thing is political and based on money. Look at the list of "safe countries" in the EU's new plans and more importantly, look at the list of countries that aren't on the list. Morocco is on the list after lobbying from Spain, even though looking at their trends, they are quite clearly in a second wave at the moment. Similarly Serbia are on the list because of Hungary's lobbying even though their cases are clearly on the rise. There's talk of Turkey being allowed in, even though they've consistently been getting 1300 new cases a day, and even the US, who are continuing to rise are are currently on over 40k new cases a day. Meanwhile countries like Malaysia (mostly single figures per day now), Taiwan (less than 500 cases in total and 7 deaths, none since mid-May) or Vietnam (355 cases, 0 deaths and reduced to a trickle of a new case every few days) aren't included. Of course it presumably has nothing to do with the fact that these countries have (quite reasonably) imposed quarantine on people travelling from the EU.
