My best mate at school was a guy called David Hillary,he was Sir Edmund Hillary's nephew. Went on to be Head Boy and then a very successful Dental Surgeon.Around 2008 was found dead in his house together with an "escort" who was unconscious.Cause of death was alcohol abuse and precription drugs.Sad end for a great guy.
I would have thought it would have been carbon monoxide poisoning if he had a car in the house

My best mate took his own life at 29. We had known each other since we were 6 years old. Never had a best friend since.
Not really fell out with good mates. Tend to have grown apart or just too busy to see each other regularly, especially those who live a fair distance away and, like myself, have children.

Used to part of a big group in local pubs, late teens/early 20s, big team holidays etc after that they drifted off 1 by 1 due to relationships, kids, jobs, moving away, finding new interests and mates etc. Generally have a big meet up once or twice a year, with the old gang although I still have a bit of contact with and the odd beer with some, they tend to be the singletons. Never underestimate the importance of lifelong singletons with no ties when you decide you fancy a few beers RIGHT NOW,they don't have to arrange babysitters or ask permission to go out.

Mine, if I ever saw him again, he would either be seriously disfigured or dead, AND I mean that...**** tried it on with my wife when I was working nights...when I found out, I got some mutual friends to pass on the message, last I heard he was in Lancaster, like I said, he will be in serious trouble if I saw him again, and it ain't just bravado...was even tempted one time to go up where he lives and burn it down....cardinal rule NEVER try it on with your best mates wife/gf, never....
