COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Its much like Rossendale (one of the lowest rates in the NW but included too).

People travel and interact beyond local boundaries too much for one place to be singled out sadly.

Though it does seem unfair.

Hopefully people in Wigan will be more sensible as they seem to have managed to do so well up to now. Perhaps they can show the rest how to do it.

Please tell me that care homes are not going to get neglected again,anyone can ring up and get a home test now so why are there none for care homes

A pledge to regularly test all people in care homes for coronavirus throughout the summer had been part of the so-called protective "ring of steel" promised to the sector by ministers. But local authority chief executives were told on Friday night that the timeline was being changed due to "unexpected delays".

It has also emerged that 64% of homes for the elderly, or those with dementia, have not had a round of asymptomatic testing, with only 3,271 homes out of 9,144 receiving testing equipment.

The BBC reports todays news as cases are steadily rising and on average 56 people a day are dying. And implies only England are giving out the true death numbers as other nations only class it as a Covid death if they had a positive test within the 28 days before they died.

These might be literally true but as I said it is doing what they did with CAS and City. Look for bad news and ignore anything positive.

Balance is always suppressed by agenda these days.

Is 56 the 7 day moving average for deaths in England I wonder? Until we get a better explanation of PHE about how they are counting cases more than a month old it’s very difficult to get a feel for accuracy.

They seem to be going for the worst news like you say. That said, the growth in cases in Manchester is genuinely bad news.

@kaz7

but nobody gave a shit about these lives....

50,000 additional flu deaths , no lockdown, no economic fall out, nobody gave a fuck.
Obviously people did care,the vaccine doesn't cover every strain,covid is not flu,it is a brand new virus that NOBODY IN THE WORLD has any immunity to,hence we have to protect ourselves the only way we can till a vaccine and medications can help us,it really is simple to understand the difference

Cheers as always @Healdplace

If there's a way that the new infections in the UK don't transpire to new hospitalizations and ICU patients this is great news. If treatment can be improved on the long damage it does to even mild patients or asymptomatics while the current patient numbers are decreasing then this can only be positive.
