ICU ventilator beds show Scotland - 1 at 3, Wales + 1 at 7, N Ireland stable at 1.

And England - 2 at 63.

So 74 in the UK.

The lowest yet.

England alone on this day over past month had (going back week by week) 72. 97, 136 and 164.

Finally the England regions patients in hospital and on ventilators data:

Change is today v yesterday

East 64 in (no change) 8 icu/vent (no change)

London 96 (down from 102) 13 icu/vent down from 15

Midlands 162 (down from 164) 13 icu/vent no change

NE & Yorks 124 (up from 122) 7 icu/vent no change

South East 90 (down from 96) 9 icu vent no change

South West 23 (up from 20 - first rise in a while) 0 icu vent/ no change

For comparison the North West fell today by just 1 patient from 169 to 168. The fall has slowed to a standstill but there has not been a net rise in patients for two weeks - so throughout the current uptick of cases. There are 13 on icu/vent beds and that number has been true for 3 days since it fell from 15.

So all that talk of Stockport entering a living nightmare has proven not to be the case and is now the 2nd best region in the area? Just goes to show that the track and trace must be working as we are identifying cases and taking action.

Stockport numbers on the past 2 days are more normal for it but you cannot take one or two days as a guide. That's why I post monthly, weekly and 3 day runs to better show trends smoothing out ups and downs.

It may have got the local problems under check. Lets hope so. But its really too early to be sure. Yes it is clinging onto second spot if you base it on pop scores. And on that basis would be near top but for the past week/10 days. Which is why the change was obvious and I referred to it when it started. It stood out because it reversed a good trend throughout the pandemic.

But its trends that matter right now not history as it all depends on isolating contacts in GM and hoping this stops 6 cases a day becoming 60 by this time next week.

Only time will tell. We surely all want this to go the right way. And not just in Stockport.

All I am doing is charting the numbers so you can judge for yourselves.
