I've only seen it once but I recall Vardy at the near post and Garcia tracking behind him. Is it not just possible that Vardy outpaced him to the near post?

Partly yes but also partly he should be monitoring him. He lost him for that goal and conceded the penalty. I wouldn't go as far as some posters and say that he's garbage but he's clearly not good enough imo. Sadly doubt Stones would have done better so probably same difference for the result.
