Nicolas Tagliafico

Zinchenko knows he is playing for the worlds best coach in a world class team. He knows he has 4 years left and he knows he is more than lucky to be part of the group. He will fight for his place until the very last day, unless the club tells him he has no part in our future plans. I still find it unbelievable we would give a squad player the kind of contract he’s got. If he was a top midfielder or leftback, a starter, with several teams chasing him, sure, but this is just irresponsible.

If we fail to move him, it’s pretty much our own fault. We’ll see.

Not very convinced by him, he's a solid all round player by the looks of it but at 28 still at Ajax throws me off.

Alaba being the alternative also puts me off and focus on getting him but i know its very tough

i am almost certain i saw Tagliafico playing for Argentina , i used to watch them to see how our boys got on. If it was him he let no one past. I am not sure it was him and i have no idea what his attacking skills are.

Whoever decided to give Zinchenko a 5 year deal last summer wants binning. Madness.

If he holds out, that'll be twice he's refused to leave and prevented us from replacing him with an actual left back.

Zinchenko has value as a player and is on a very low wage compared to the rest of the squad - I've read before something like £20k p/w.

Signing him up to a long term contract after he's performed in a top team is just sensible business. He will have plenty of suitors willing to buy him and from his perspective, he can get that wage anywhere else, so there's no incentive as a 23 year old to happily sit on the bench and not play football. It's a very different scenario to that of Otamendi/Gundo, for example.

If Zinchenko is the one refusing to go, we can easily sign someone else, keep him on the sidelines and not have it impact us - we have the squad space. I think it just makes sense from a squad harmony perspective to not have unhappy players knocking about.

That long term contract we gave him will probably mean we obtain around £15m+ in the market for him. Potentially even more next summer if he goes out on loan and performs elsewhere.

I'm all in favour of selling Zinch. He's a good footballer but not quite good enough as a specialist at top level. He deserves to play every week for any decent mid table European team. Secretly though, my main reason for wanting him to go is that the thought of having 2 KDB lookalikes in the same team (Delap and Zinch) is doing my head in. God knows what it would do to 2nd rate TV commentators!

The zinchenko thing isn't that we need homegrown spots, it's that pep doesn't want 3 left backs in the squad.
Agree with this. We have had too many players over recent years. Having 3rd and 4th choice players hanging around does not always work well.

I like zinchenko and i think covering LB has served him very well - smart move and teh sign of a good pro. But he probably wants to be a midfielder and play first choice somewhere. Good luck to him.

If he goes then get this lad in. Mendy needs competition.
