There's a blatant lie in the article that City (and PSG) have taken spending to new levels. Given inflation in football (a topic that should be discussed a lot more to put financial things in their proper context), Chelsea spent much more money on Mourinho's team than our owners on Pep's team. Not even close. Pathetic journalism.
Sucking up to Abramovich didn't do them any favours. He took them to the cleaners in court last week. Abramovich is a bit more proactive in defending his reputation than our club is.

What Delaney and his ilk completely overlook is, irrespective of what City paid for them, almost all players City have bought increase their value as a result of improving their performances after they come here, especially in the Pep era. City don't buy finished articles, players at the top of their game or galacticos. We buy good players and/or players with potential and in many cases turn them into great players.
Or does the bitter little gobshite think that KDB is worth only £55m today? Gundogan only £21m, Ederson only £35m, Sterling only £44m, Jesus only £27m, Bernardo only £43m or Zinchenko only £1.7m? Dias's market value is surely already more than the £61m City paid for him last summer. (Compare to Maguire who was never worth £80m even when the rags bought him).

His whole argument crumbles on pretty much every front, and none more so than his opening gambit about the “rigours” of this particular season being such that only ”state-funded” clubs can ride out the storm.
Unfortunately, Miggles‘ attempt to paint a picture of 19 Premier League clubs’ treatment rooms resembling the amputations tents at the Battle of Inkerman, whilst City merrily tag-team their way through English football’s answer to the Crimean War by simply introducing a whole new cohort of troops if the first cohort happens to get wiped out, doesn’t bear much in the way of scrutiny.
With the exception of Liverpool, who are having a very bad season in terms of injuries (and it’s worth drawing a comparison with the previous two seasons, when they had astonishing good fortune with injuries), and Leicester, who’ve been similarly decimated, but, noticeably, haven’t spent the whole season bellyaching about it, and indeed have markedly improved their performances to lie 2nd in the table, most of the other top 4 contenders are actually having a better season injury-wise than they did last year, a fact that torpedoes Miggles’ argument at source.
