104 all settings deaths - so a little down wk to wk happily but still over 100 sadly,

And as feared with cases (as it nearly always rises mid to late week and falls over the weekend and early week - a testing pattern presumably) - a big jump up even WITHOUT Wales cases (still missing) - to 29, 612

That is exactly 300 up on last Wednesday (so with Wales at least 1000 presumably).

Ans is a rise of 6102 on yesterday.

Last weeks Tue to Wed rise was 21, 691 to 29, 312 - 7621 (but included Wales)

So like most recent numbers this is about as flat as you can get week to week.

Should be ok hopefully, most of the people who died from Covid were over 85 I think and many from care homes, these aren’t really people who attend football and those who may be vulnerable have now been vaccinated
I know some who are vaccinated will still get Covid and die but it shouldn’t get to worrying numbers

fingers crossed
and toes and anything else you can cross

England cases week to week are

last Wednesday 26, 393 VERSUS today 26, 647 - - up 254.

Think a 1% weekly rise is defined as a plateau.

Premier League fans will face random spot-checks of their Covid-19 status at grounds in the first few matchdays of the season, the league says.

The top flight has announced protocols for the new season, saying fans must be prepared to prove they are fully vaccinated or have had a negative lateral flow test in the last 48 hours.

Fans will be able to show their Covid-19 status using the NHS Covid pass through the NHS app or website.

The league is preparing in case it becomes mandatory for all fans to have their coronavirus status checked.

OK - North West and GM had good days today.

The best of the regions where everyone is up - outside the North East - still improving a lot - but also up (nobody was down today) but only by 92. Though as one of the two smallest regions that is expected.

South West by comparison - like most of the southern regions - up big - 910 - to over 3000 there and almost the same as the North West in numbers despite a huge disparity in population. Seems to be reaping the holiday visitor whirlwind there.

You might recall last year Boris famously justifying the months of local restrictions in the North West by saying it would be unfair to punish a small rural region like the South West with low cases and so local restrictions in the metro areas had to be the way to go.

Yorkshire, London, South East and even West Midlands up by hundreds today - two of them near 1000.

North West is up just 312 to 3189. Yorkshire, London and South East all up much more and have higher cases.

Week to week NW is actually DOWN. By all of 6! Yet more evidence of the plateau.

Indeed quite a few regions are. Almost everywhere is much of a muchness versus last week.

GM is on 1262 today. That is up 102 day to day of the NW rise of 312. Which is well below expectation.

And week to week GM is DOWN 17 - more than the 6 the NW region falls by.

So today all round is pretty much textbook plateau.

Whether that is good or bad news we shall see. But NW is having the best of it and GM at least its fair share of that success.

GM summary

Nobody had a bad day today. Except possibly Trafford - up week to week by 21 which is the most by anyone. Even Manchester (actually down 12).

The numbers week to week in GM were like the national plateau very flat and close to one another.

Bury, Salford, Stockport and Wigan also down a tad week to week - the rest up a tad. But nobody by much. In fact two of them were up week to week just by one case.

Whatever is happening with the cases it is a surprisingly uniform picture not a localised pandemic as it has been in the past.

Have the vaccinations levelled the playing field maybe?

But still nothing about previous infection..

Its still an horrific number and average numbers on a daily basis. Like having a air crash every day really.
It's hard to have any optimism when we keep reading figures of this nature 15 months after the whole thing started.
Are the vaccines as effective as they think?
