I think one thing people will have to realise about Grealish is much like David Silva (and in a different way, Bernardo Silva), his goals and assists tally won't be where he shows his ability.

Grealish in the last 3 games has played so many potential 'assist before the assist' passes it's unbelievable. He's carried the ball up the pitch with his dribbling more than any other player in the league (by a big margin too). He's drawing players in and thus creating space for others like a magnet.

Grealish is like a master key that unlocks all doors, but he's never going to be the one to actually go through the door. This will likely stay the same as long as he's playing on the left wing too.

You can pick-up some idea of "assist before assist" through the "shot creating actions" stat which picks up the last 2 actions leading to a shot/attempt. His p90 stat is slightly lower than last season BUT last season it was truly elite and only just behind his hero Kevin. So, "unbelievable" is a stretch and think you should just stick with "monstrous" :)

His number of dribbles p90 is actually down but his "progressive carries" or drives in the final 1/3 or into the penalty area are off the scale and best in the league now and also historically.

As a consequence his number of touches in the box p90 has taken him from about number 10 in the league to number 1. A high number of touches in the box ordinarily correlates with the elite attacking players who historically score a high number of goals (Salah, Sterling and Mane have bossed this in recent years). Grealish is an outlier in this respect so it will be fascinating to see Pep's masterplan for him.

A caveat with this is we are only 4 league games in BUT it's clear as day he will be a monster.

Going to take us the next level you all said...
A match winner you all believed
A cut above and different to anything else you all insisted

Now - he needs time to get up to speed
Or
We must wait till KDB is in the team to see his full potential.

The excuses are flowing.

He is undoubtedly a good player. Did we need him? No
Has he done anything exceptional yet.? No

Honestly the shit some of us got for questioning this transfer verged on Dipper cult mentality.

He is an expensive back up in a position we didn't need.

Awesome player,we look more cohesive and dominant than we did last season, when the ball goes forward it doesn't immediately come back as it does with a couple of others in our squad.Defenders shit themselves when he is in possession and he attracts so much attentio that space automatically opens up elsewhere.

Mouthwatering when Pep has the choice of Kev and Phil added to equation.

Curious as to who you think he is a back up for.
