NORTH WEST & GM HIGHLIGHTS

GM had a much better day - even Stockport!

North West FALLS day to day by just 70 to 3552.

Of these GM falls by 93 - more than the entire NW total fall. Small numbers so minimal impact but obviously a good day.

However, week to week (more important for trends) NW RISES by 414 and GM is up from 1097 to 1215 - a rise of 118 - better than the expected rise of around 170.

Stockport improved considerably and was even one of only two boroughs today down week to week - all be it by just 2. But after days of big rises that is somethng. Especially as those week to week rises had been falling daily.

The other was Rochdale who are doing very well in GM and yet Zoe has them as the worst of the ten - which suggests Zoe have simila issues getting that borough right to their longstanding ones with Tameside and East Lancashire.

Stockport also did NOT score more than Manchester today. In fact they both top scored together on 165.

Trafford on 160 clearly had the worst day and actually lost 11 Pop Score points to Stockport today with the highest daily rise in GM (67) to Stockport's 56.

Indeed Stockport was not even second highest today as Tameside's 146 was enough to up their Pop Score by 64.

Now that most developed countries are at similar levels in terms of vaccinations does anyone know why our case rate, hospitalisation rate and death rate is still near the top of the table?
Our hospital numbers have been falling steadily as cases were going up over past couple of weeks.

We are nowhere near the levels we were in the last pre vaccine wave. And the link is broken as most catching it now are in the least vulnerable category.

It likely has a lot to do with how countries define a Covid case.

If I knew I wouldn’t be asking.
I would guess that if we are testing twice as many therefore finding more chances are more people who have tested positive in last 28 days would be in the mortality numbers whether it was covid or other factors that did for them.
