Manuel Pellegrini

Don't think it was City's choice to announce it. Manuel just sprung that he was leaving at the end of the season in a press conference if I remember correctly. City then reacted and announced Pep was taking over.
I forget the ins and outs of it. The general impression I got was that Txiki and Soriano were as giddy as teenage girls at a pop concert at the prospect of Pep coming and didn’t care if the whole world knew about it. Which they did.

We all knew he was appointed to keep things warm for pep and he probably was aware of this from the get go also.

Was well respected, played attacking football and got the team in a very good place for when pep arrived.

A perfect transition manager who played an important part in a very well orchestrated move by the club to get us where we are currently.

Can you imagine the rags having this kind of foresight and long term planning?

All out fullbacks were over thirty , yaya was old so not a good place at all

He was a good manager rather than a great one who steadied the ship after the disruption and unrest of the previous season and who brought a calm and team spirit to the club. He was hamstrung by FFP as he tried to develop the squad and also suffered from the common knowledge that he was keeping the seat warm. Lost his way over the last season or two because the squad had weaknesses he couldn’t solve. It took Pep a couple of windows and a lot of money to rebalance the squad.

Strangely he would never have had the job if Aguero hadn’t scored in 93.20.

Came in when the players needed a cuddle and somebody to bolster them.

Problem is it then went too far the other way and the players got too relaxed and knew they wouldn't get a rocket.

He always gave decent fans a sense of pride in our club. Yet so many show such scant appreciation for so much. 3 trophies in 3 years taken for granted like we were winning 1/2 trophies every season since 1894. Also worked wonders at Villarreal, thanks Manuel, more than just "an average manager" in the world of football, I will not forget his contribution to our club.

Probably would’ve won the league 2 seasons out of 3 had we not pulled the rug out from under his feet by inexplicably announcing Pep’s impending arrival just when we'd hit our stride and had games against our chief rivals coming up.

Won the league cup twice. Got tot the CL SF narrowly losing to a great Madrid team.

A seriously underrated manager

“Narrowly losing”? LOL that’s one way of putting it.

Being a complete bunch of spineless cowards would be another way of putting it.
