A word on Cristiano Ronaldo. He rocked up there and told Solskjaer to put the players on notice that it was time to start winning now that CR7 was in town. As though he could just click his fingers and they'd be competitors. The sheer arrogance to think that all the work of Klopp, Tuchel and most of all Pep, would simply crumble before the power of one individual. Enjoy your humble pie.

The fact that if he'd had the courage he could be in among it under Pep is a little salt too. Just an ounce of humility to concede that he's not the player he was, and he'd have had the most adaptable top level manager building an already title winning team around him. Could have been the headline, will be a footnote now.

Say they got like, Conte, first of all would he be allowed to bench Ronaldo? Ronaldo's on two years right? Second, would he tolerate defensive passengers like Pogba and Fernandes? Zero chance any coach with stature would not have benched Ronaldo at half-time.

Means they probably need a manager like Zidane who is a bit more hands off, but does that work in the premiere league? I don't know.

It's not just needing a new coach, it's needing a new coach and letting them build their squad and letting them implement their vision.

For all the talk of them having "a talented team for whom the sky is the limit", relative to top teams they have no RB, the most overrated CB in the game, and no midfield. Their attack is good yes, Greenwood and Rashford can be dealt with by pacey defenses, and Ronaldo, Pogba and Fernandes are defensive liabilities.

They're in trouble.

Conte isn’t the answer, I hope they give him the job.

I wanted him, initially I was unsure but once my United peers got upset it was a no brainer. Plus I think a guy with his goalscoring pedigree could have easily been a success at City with Pep managing him.

But he's at United. So much like with Juventus he'll probably score a bucket load of goals and simultaneously derail the team. And City are playing possibly the highest quality of football since Pep arrived. So it's turned out well.
