The numbers in SA look terrible for infectiousness but so far they're looking brilliant for hospitalisation and death considering the infectiousness.

the WHO have said there have been no deaths from omnicron variant globally

it’s in many of the papers but you never know which link to post on BM so plumped for local paper .

Yet again the focus is on infections, the big numbers, the panic that goes with them.

It’s never going away, it will mutate, we should get our vaccinations and we should also get on with life.

Sadly I don’t believe we will anytime soon as we have become panic driven and so risk averse it’s untrue.

The vast majority of us have done what we were asked, we lock downed, we wore masks, we isolated, we vaccinated, we brought the curve down and under control and 2 years in we have some amongst us who want to go right back to day 1 it feels.

it’s pathetic . They are now even reporting a story to scare people about a virus that doesn’t even exist.

Back from Turkey, 2 negative PCR tests done in last week and now a 3rd done with Randox as part of the day 2 test that’s needed.

Guess what? They want you to break your isolation and drive to one of their drop off points to hand it in, fucking jokers. £100 for 2 tests and they don’t even stick a return postage on it and encourage behaviour we are told we should not do as in going out.

Just another dimension to this fucking farce.

We did the same. Paid £100 for 2 tests at the Randox at Manchester Jet Parks. Had to queue for over 2 hours to get PCR tested. Somebody, somewhere is making a bloody fortune from this. Not good for the environment either. Car engines spewing out emissions. Surely this testing can be avoided. Busy time of year too. Travel industry needs all the help it can get.

I either drive 90 mins to a collection point in Carlisle or on the M74 at a service station or I post it. Guess what, no postage as part of the cost, no return box with a UN3373 label, it’s an absolute fucking farce.

Will now break isolation and go stand in the post office!

of course I have. The commentary is on the headline About how the media spin things.

Which is a sensationalist headline from the bbc .

next pandemic could be more lethal than covid

be afraid.

This is bollocks.

The message isn't "be afraid", it's "be prepared". Learn the lessons from COVID so we don't make such a fuckup next time around.

For instance:
- PPE availability
- vaccine manufacturing capability
- clinical trials organisation
- Cooperation on systems for border controls
- testing capacity
- healthcare capacity and resilience

How is this a problem? Seems very sensible to me. IMO the people in fear are those burying their heads in the sand, not those openloy addressing the issues.

they’re not reporting this for a laugh

NHS is overstretched and beds are being taken up rapidly

If you factor in another high wave of Covid patients then there will be no space in the hospital, not enough nurses and cancellations for other procedures

they need people to really take precautions these next few weeks whilst trying to prevent another lockdown.
