City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

The Glazers have spent (badly) on the playing squad but allowed the rest of the club to rot. The infrastructure at United is in tatters off the field because the Glazers see the club purely as a personal vehicle to make money. The comparison with Ashley is that the Glazers are driven by the same motivation...personal greed. The Glazers have no long-term strategy or vision. They are dinosaurs compared to Sheikh Mansour in the way they operate.
The Glazers don't spend the money their executives do. That is where the difference is. The Glazers trusted their man Woodward whereas City appointed Txiki as a football director. The Premier League is structured in such a way that money generates footballing success which generates more money. We're simply reaping the benefit of the system Man Utd created so if you want to deify anyone, it should be Gill and his cronies.

I assume you have completely lost your marbles.

As it goes in the song You signed Phil Jones, we signed Kun Aguero. We know who executes City and Utd's transfer strategy don't we? Once you win the Premier League you have to be incompetent not to challenge for it the next season. That is how Man Utd dominated the league for 20 years. We are doing exactly the same thing now as Swiss Ramble has shown you. We don't need a super clever owner, we need money and a gerrymandered premier league.

And the guys who made the mistakes at man utd weren't the Glazers but those executing their football business.

Just bonkers! Sorry, don't see it like that at all and I won't be worshiping at the shrine of Gill.
You have a huge non sequitur at the heart of your statement which reads "I have money, therefore I win." It is just not true and it certainly does not follow that you can dispense with smart operators.
Swales had money to start with.

According to the release, Blue United eFC will also participate on behalf of Yokohama F.Marinos in the Japanese eJLeague. The Japanese football club is partly owned by CFG.

Blue United eFC are the current FIFA champions in Asia. The team’s players have qualified for three out of the last four FIFAe World Cups and are ranked in the top five FIFA esports teams in the world.

Takehiko Nakamura, President and CEO of Blue United, said: “I am delighted to collaborate with City Football Group, one of the most successful football business entities in the world, which owns notable football clubs such as Manchester City.

“Our objective lately has been to build our own properties so we can accomplish our vision to contribute to the development of Japanese sports businesses and to the globalization of the sports industry to make it one of the top sectors in the world.”

This is the fourth season that Blue United eFC is participating in international FIFA Esports competitions, and its roster currently consists of two professional FIFA players: Agu and Tsakt.

Tsakt, professional player of Blue United eFC, added: “I’m excited about the collaboration with City Football Group. Four years ago, we aimed to compete in international tournaments, but now we aim for global success. I consider Manchester City to be one of the world’s best teams in both football and esports, and I am confident our collaboration will be essential to our success at the global level.”

The City Football Group most notably collaborated with FaZe Clan on content and fan experiences. The Group has been a steady investor in esports since 2016 when it signed Kieran ‘Kez’ Brown to represent Manchester City at FIFA tournaments.

Esports Insider says: The City Football Group is one of the most powerful holding companies in the world of sports. The partnership with Blue United will strengthen its presence in the esports world as well. With the help of City Football Group, Blue United will look towards winning its first FIFA eWorld Cup.

What do you make of this deal ? And my thoughts

What do you make of this deal ? And my thoughts
Simple: Build or buy?

Building is expensive and time consuming.

Buying is immediate.

This is the best ACTUAL football “franchise” in the world partnering up with one of the best GAMING football “franchises” in the world.

eSports is huge, growing, and in the most desirable global marketing demographic!

“Go where the money is and try to get there early!”

Massive! The rest are being left behind the mighty CFG juggernaut. Now here's the thing: any sponsor on our shirt will be shown to millions across Asia. Hope the little old Premier League has the knowledge to assess the value for money! While MCFC might not benefit directly, what a sell to a potential partner

Swales had money to start with.
Not true.

The Glaziers have been good owners, the only issue is they have probably been to easy going and trusted the judgment of the execs/management far too much in the face of obvious incompetence.

Whatever your opinion of Woodward he was exceptional at bringing commercial deals into the club, but in pure footballing terms he was a nightmare and incompetent.

The rags are the victim of a single man (Ferguson) having complete and utter control of a club for 20 years and having no structure in place when he left, the loss of Gill was also a huge loss.

Having money is no guarantee of success, Everton are a classic example of that, 500million spent and a shambles of a club.
