my parents moved a lot, but I always found them
I’ll turn 60 end of October, my eldest daughter (27- no pics), mildly autistic, wanted to do something special and got tickets for next years ‘run for your lives’ maiden gig. Part of me thinks they’ll retire shortly after so last chance.

Can’t lie, as Borat would say ‘I am very excite’. First saw them in 1982, ‘beast on the road’, as a 16 year old, just got my first moped, proper biker - happy days! Subsequently saw them on tour for ‘world piece’, ‘world slavery’ and ‘somewhere on tour’

Have realised I haven’t really heard much between 2000 to recent senjitsu album, but am currently listening to dance of death, and I like it!

The logistics of getting there is an issue, we got straight tickets, I just looked at local hotels and all fully booked. Having eye issues so don’t think driving is an option - any advice on the travel? I’m just about capable of walking from Stevenage station (it’s my birthday treat, no 1 daughter could give me a piggy back) We can both camp for an additional £145, which would be ok, but I’m a bit old for it! My mate saw Robbie Williams there and it took him 4 hours to get out of the car park apparently.

So, any Knebworth veterans got advice for maximum enjoyment on the day?

Well………. I love Maiden, saw them about a year ago in Salt Lake….seriously not impressed

You lucky bugger! Seriously tempted my this myself to be honest but it's been a good decade or so since I've been to a festival. No idea on how the logistics work around Knebworth though, and what puts me off more than anything is the messing getting to and fro.

Maiden do seem to be going through the 'could be our last tour' cycle for a few years now. Saw them at the arena just before the bombing and there were rumours that would be their last tour, but they've since been back again to Manchester and now have a brand new drummer. Will never beat kiss though for farewell tours, they have more than they have albums!

I just can’t justify the cost for this one, but saw them 4 times earlier this year and well over 50 times in total.

I think Big Green Coaches are running services from all over for it though:

Seen them a few times, last was Twickenham on the Sonewhere Back In Time tour. Coach trip from Barrow made for a VERY long day but they always make it worth the journey. Mind you, really not sure about them without Nico - just seems wrong somehow.

I remember when he joined, a girl I knew didn’t want to go see them because he’d previously played for Toyah - think she confused him with the bloke from Saxon :)
