I unfortunately have terminal prostate cancer but in aid of the prostate cancer uk charity I have been asked if MCFC could accommodate a volunteer walk which takes in a number of sporting venues the reason for my post is to ask if anyone could direct me to someone within City who can hopefully help me out and make this happen as part of the walk it would mean such a lot to me and would be greatly appreciated by all the people who are walking in support of PCUK please help me out if you can thank you

Thank you so very much for your help and suggestions I really appreciate it and also the most important thing in the replies getting checked out please anyone of 50 or over get a check and if you are getting up frequently in the night or there is an urgent need to go for a wee then you struggle etc get checked I wish I had thanks again

Am desperately sad to hear of this mate, and even though I can't possibly imagine how distraught you must feel right now, i wish you all the very best in whatever time you may have left ... all you can do is try to make the most of that time with those people closest to you, especially family.

Isn't there someone called Danny Wilson at City who might possibly be able to help with the charity walk??

Age is irrelevant with prostate cancer I got mine early 40s and I know people a lot younger who have got it just get a check up better being safe than sorry.

Sorry to hear of your news. Had a hifu procedure two weeks ago for stage 2. Awaiting my MRI results. The trigger point in Oxfordshire is 4.0. Even though my psa numbers were dropping from a high of 3.84 to 3.30 my Dr wrote to the hospital asking if I could be seen earlier. Thanks to this I got a hospital appointment and even though the finger test was OK I was offered an MRI to check. It took me two years of going back to the Doctors to get something done. I had random pains in my testicles, groin and around my waste. I knew something wasn't correct. Psa tests are all we have. Even if you have no symptoms it is worth requesting one.

Just been diagnosed with prostate cancer I'm 64 given 3 options observation and test every 3 months, surgery or radiotherapy, I've got a hip replacement booked for Tuesday so will have a think about it probably go with the observation and see if levels go up then go for surgery, anyone else given options.
How you doing mcgrathc hope your OK buddy.

Sorry to hear that mate, do what's right for you I hope you have a good end to it and get it beaten. If your hip replacement goes ahead good luck with that.

@mcgrathc how are you doing mate?

I'm not here to get sympathy although I appreciate your message I just wanted to know if anyone has had similar options and what they chose, I'm sure all will be ok with me unfortunately not for many others listening to Jeremy vine this dinner there is a growing call for screening to be made for all men over a certain age, which would be a massive step forward to catching this early.

I'm 37 and wish for the screenings to be for younger people aswell. We can certainly help people earlier.

Fingers crossed all goes well for you, I would go with what your heart tells you!

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer just before lockdown and have been on active surveillance ever since - PSA test every four months and MRI scan every two years. So far there’s been no change in the tiny tumour and it’s symptom free apart from getting up in the night two or three times. If they think this option is OK for your cancer I’d go for that rather than intervention which might be unnecessary- I find it reassuring that it’s checked regularly and don’t worry about it in between times

Thanks for that it helps to here other people's perspective on the matter.
