25 | Gianluigi Donnarumma - 2025/26

Didn't have much to do in the 1st half but the team decided he needed to earn his keep in the 2nd half.

Not much he can do for their goal, but overall another top game. The two tackles were quality.

Yes they were great tackles. I loved Eddie but if that was him we’d have been down to ten men.
I dont know, to be fair to Ederson, he'd have been much quicker to the ball in the first place and avoided having to make those tackles to begin with.

Donnarumma seems to be a little unsure of balls like this as he hasn't really been expected to play out of his area much, which contradicts Man City's style of play in the last 7 or 8 years.

This will happen less as time goes on. He's a much more traditional keeper than Eddie was.

Critical tackles those, as we were completely losing momentum.

Also liked the bollocking he dished out with the goal we did concede, where we just switched off.

Had an Eddie moment in the 2nd half which could have resulted in a goal or red card. Other than that he was excellent again.

Obviously the overall defence and set up has a lot to do with this but since he joined we've conceded 8 goals in 14 games in all competitions - and we've played Liverpool, Arsenal, Napoli and Dortmund in that time so we're not talking relegation fodder. The only team to score twice against us in that time is Monaco. And I think I speak for all of us when I say their second goal was farcical bollocks.

Donnarumma personally has conceded 6 goals from open play in 12 games - and in the Premier League 4 in 8. So 0.5 per game.

The league winners usually concede about 25-35 goals. If that ratio is maintained for the rest of the season we'd be looking at finishing the season on about 22 goals conceded. In a team that conceded 44 goals last year. That's how much of a difference he has made since joining.

Great summary!

Shades of Hart against Newcastle who singlehandedly got that screamer years ago ruled out for offside by appealing immediately.

I don't think that flag goes up if he doesn't do the same today, no matter the rules. Saved a goal without making a save.

What goal?

The fuck was he doing when he came out? That had a "this is how we throw it away" feeling to it. Not seen a replay so don't know how close he was to fucking things up but big let off there, don't do that again ffs. 1 really good save from szoboszlai, fully expect a keeper to savr that but it was sweetly hit with a bit of movement and wet conditions. Those are the type of efforts that keepers can easily fumble if thwyre not fully locked in so it was a better save than it looks. otherwise spent most of the game playing cheerleader.

Shown his experience. Complain about a goal - Arsenal did it yesterday for both. It didn’t work for them but it’s always worth a shout

I think their goal should have stood. But fuck em!
