The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

I can assure you my mental health is fine mate. Cool story though bro ;)
Must be the truth that triggers you then.

Or is it just someone not doing or believing in your views. ??

You take care my friend. I'm coming down for the Leeds game so happy to put your mind at rest and have a coffee and a friendly City chat.

That is ultimately why we are on here. We both support City.

Not that we expect everyone to bend to our opinion on Politics.

Sorry pal - I'm out of the country when we play the sheep shaggers ;)

It’s got nothing to do with Starmer at all. He wouldn’t have been aware of it whatsoever. I don’t think it even had anything to do with Davie, although he rightly lost his job over it.
Not so sure.

When Trump asked him to remove an Australian journalist from a press conference during the state visit because he asked him about Epstein in a previous exchange at the Whitehouse he agreed.

They resigned. Wouldn't be too much of a leap to consider he rang them to do so 'for the good of the nation's etc.

In an age of streaming services where people choose which entertainment they wish to absorb, somethng like a 'licence fee' is so archaic.

We're not forced to pay for Amazon Prime if we want to watch Disney+. We're not forced to pay for Netflix if we want to watch Sky.

We are forced to pay for the BBC, if we want to watch any other content. People think the BBC is great and delivers great content. Good for you boo, a lot of us don't watch the Beeb or rate their programming. So why should we be forced to pay for content we don't want, to gain access to the content that we do?

death rattle of a dinosaur. Should have been euthanised years ago. The fatal blow will be administered by the far-right, as it is now an irritation, not the useful asset it had been before the internet. In it's pomp, it became arrogant, obese, a law unto itself, always right-wing, always london centric, unchallenged until it wasn't. It took a series of heavy blows that should have been fatal, saville, orgreave among many. Kept on life-support by the right-wing london-centric "establishment". Once news reporting puts agendas before facts, vested interests involved in what is head-lined and what is ignored, all credibility dies. A comet killed the dinosaurs, a sun will do for the bbc

I love the BBC and use its SOUNDS and Bitesize features, its news and sport very often.
This is a shame, IMO, mainly because it will be used by the usual culprits to build the fake news narrative and the institutional bias narrative. This is destructive because we must have an honest press, and those railing against the BBC are, generally, the most biased of broadcasters and work with politicians to spin divisive rhetoric.

As for Trump, I hope that this will be nothing but a tiny nipple on the enormous breast of his fall from grace. He is, IMO, one of the world's greatest dangers, and his manipulation of media and judiciary for his own ends sets an appalling precedent. As for his failure to release the Epstein files, well I hope he is impeached very soon.

Did you know every human is biased or did that somehow escape your notice for as long as you’ve lived on the planet?
I think this is true. The BBC are trying to square a circle with their 'unbiased' coverage and tend to do it reasonably well. The Trump error is either utter incompetent journalism or a malicious attempt to manipulate opinion. The mistake made by the BBC leadership was in not calling out the error immediately which made it look like they condone it.

Once you bring opinions into news coverage then you are bound to have biased reporting. A reporters bias is no more relevant than your or mine opinion. The BBC should stick to facts and cut down on the opinion.

What the BBC did is indefensible and they’ve got previous. No amount of ducking, weaving, conspiracy theorising, or deflection excuses blatant fakery. My son-in-law is a committed leftie & as honest as they come - and he was appalled by it, as much as I wasn’t - as it’s being going on for years.
There is absolutely no excuse and I’m amazed the Chief Exec of news is wriggling. They have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar.
The fact it relates to overseas political issues in the USA means it becomes a global scandal and the reputation of BBC is now fucked - and will be difficult to salvage. Some contrition and a clear out of those responsible might help.
Being the State broadcaster makes things so much worse, They obviously think Ethics is just a county near Thussex and that probity is something that children go through at around 12 or13 years old !
