The NHS...2025.

I thought there was a shortage of nurses in greater Manchester, my niece finished her nurse training about six weeks ago and has got her pin number but she's still not got a placement yet and is being used as a care assistant at various hospitals with no set shift times, she's disillusioned and wondering wether it was worth the training, university etc
I know it's no consolation but I work with supporting young people and for the first time in over 40 years I have had 4 newly qualified nurses on my caseload. Just within the last 12 months.
3 have now find work, 2 of those as nurses. The 4th one wasn't even getting interviews but I looked at her Personal Statement and found it rather heavy and muddled, so then signposted her for some help and advice with it through the Royal College of Nursing website. She has now revamped it and is now getting interviews.

My local hospital now sends appointments by mobile phone message only. Not surprisingly, I missed my appointment as I don’t have a mobile. They said they sent a message but where it went, nobody knows.
I had to rebook and persuade them to send me a letter!
This is contrary to gov guidelines which specifically state that alternatives to paperless must be available for deaf old lags like me. Email is apparently beyond them.
