Media discussion - 2025/26

Having read Simon's eulogy to Jim one sentence particularly struck me:

' a source said the work of United's data and analytics team has accelerated to such a degree it is now "among the top four teams".
I wonder how they know this unless they are following a Liverpool tactic...
Or just trying to get into the top 4 without playing football, which they are shite at..

I have no issue with the highlighting of the links
City -> Mansour -> Sudan

I have large issues with the fact that it’s just one club who are singled out for dubious ‘links’ to hideous things in the world by Ronay et al.

Where were all the pieces for:

United -> Saudi -> khashoggi
United have had a very longterm relationship with Saudi, including a sports academy (opened after Khashoggi murder) iirc

Liverpool-> standard Chartered -> laundering billions for terrorists and billion in fines

Going back further
Arsenal -> owner investment -> blood diamonds

And the amount of fawning pieces from all the football media who went to Russia - after Crimea, the Donbas, Chechenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Trans Nistra etc, had occurred/occuring …

Until football media pieces start having ‘mea culpa’ sections, then they can stfu and stop trying to point score geo-political against their most hated noncartel club
Watched the boxing last night. No mention of sports washing. Same with horseracing yesterday. Arab dirty oil money only applies to us.

This Lewis Oldham is one of the most bitterest cunts out there. He's written the same shit numerous times with his tiny cock out getting in a frenzy fantasising about City's demise. What a grade a knobhead
They really do not have anything better to write about do they? - problem is articles like they create clicks and that is all journalism is now the number of clicks rather than honest good reporting.

He’s a **** and he works for Football 365. A marriage made in heaven! Fuck him and fuck them.

It’s surprising how hung up people are on the legal niceties of the “Genocide” label. I’m sure the poor victims are not concerned by such nuance. Why not just call it slaughter. Because that’s what it is. I think politicians like to hide behind the Genocide debate and the lawyers keep making money. Slaughter is a more accurate label.

Oh, I don't know.
They're pretty good, recently, on not getting into the Top 4 ?
Wonder how low Sky will go this season, to shoehorn the Trafford Tramps into their current leading table ?
I'll go for the "Top 9"...

Watched the WSL derby, media still gushing over the ragettes, lack of excitement when we attack and inevitably score. Was rather puzzled that they have theatre of dreams on the back of their shirts, funny name for Leigh sports village!
Ahh but do they pull the issstrrree card as the Raggettes were only formed 3weeks ago ?

Just reading about this, funny as fuck. Properly mind boggling how that obvious tone deaf concept and language got through god knows how many committees and management layers at Sky and nobody put their hand up and said err...this sounds like a totally shite idea.
The same organisation that commissioned “Heil Hitler, I’m Home”?

Maybe not that mind-boggling!

Wilson wrote a (decent to be fair) history of football tactics called, Inverting the W (I think) about ten or 15vyears ago. It was very well received.
Even though it offered no particularly great insights (again, to be fair, why should it? He's a journalist not a coach) and the book was mostly a very well-researched chronological report of the evolution of football tactics, he has been lauded as something of a guru in the subject by his peers ever since. Why, only his peers can say but it baffles me.
(It can't be because they largely know fuck all on the subject surely but...) iIt'd be a bit like a food critic detailing the history of Russian food service and being regarded as a great chef by other food critics.
His book wasn't without fault/bias. (Remarkably, it entirely overlooks the Revie Plan - the first time an English club successfully embraced European tactics).
Unfortunately, his reporting is so much not without fault/bias that it's difficult to take seriously. Never - in 15 years of sustained domination of English football- has he seen fit to praise City without some degree of straw-clutching mitigation or downright sarcasm of his own.
TL/DR? He's a vaguely competent historian but a tiresome journalist.
Wilson has written at least one article (sometimes several) predicting Pep’s demise every season for the last five years
