International Games | 12th - 19th November '25

Lived in Scotland most of my life since 18 though I'm from Manchester and support England.
You get the very occasional miserable bugger who hates all things English, but the vast majority you get decent banter and piss taking
Most don't want England to win any more than I want United to win but it isn't personal.

My kids support Scotland and I wanted them to win it'll be fun on the golf course tomorrow and would have been at work but I'm retired now.

can I just say England once again go through a robotic qualifying process ( we last lost a qualifying game for the WC or the Euro's in 2009 ) enabling the press to big us up and thus far it leads to inevitable tournament disappointment when the ROI and Scotland have shown qualifying can be place where all the excitement can be. Last few days have been exciting.

Me too, my wife is from the very far north of Scotland, been a blue since I told her she was ;-) took her to villa park on our honeymoon.
My wife is from the Highlands and she became a Blue after I took her to Arsenal away in 05 - the day Henry and Pires screwed up their not so clever pen.

We never seem to encounter any jeopardy in qualifying anymore. I remember the plucky nil nil in the Olympic stadium in Rome, the free kick against Greece in the last minute. When it went bad Graham Taylor coming out with the classic ‘do I not like that’ and the Wally with the brollie in 2008.

Not a big fan of the 48 team format but some great stories in North American Qualifying. Panama, Haiti & Curacao qualify for the World Cup.

Haiti with everything that's going on in their country is a great story. Here's them finding out that their win was enough after Honduras drew to Costa Rica:

Curacao are the smallest ever nation (150,000 people) to qualify beating Iceland's record, although 1 big caveat. Everyone bar Tahith Chong was born in the Netherlands and he pretty much grew up there, still a great story though.

VAR overturned a last minute penalty to Jamaica which would have put Jamaica top and Curacao 2nd had they scored it.

Also Jamaica and Suriname make the intercontinental qualifiers (top 2 group runners up). The Suriname scenario was a bit mental, they were getting battered 3-0 off of Guatemala who had nothing to play for, they scored in injury time to level their goal difference with Honduras and leap frog them on goals scored.

The own goal that got Suriname the place:

They obviously didn't realise how big of a goal it was for them.

They both join:

2 places up for grabs.

Iraq & DR Congo are seeded and straight through to their finals.

Semi Finals will be:
Suriname v Bolivia/New Caledonia
Jamaica v Bolivia/New Caledonia

All games played in the Mexico I believe.

Two Rangers fans, an English rag and a wee guy from the Isle of Man came good for them tonight

Of those three , you can only get Kosovo in the next round.
Just out of interest, why is that? I thought there would be a draw and one each of Pots 1, 2, 3 and 4 in each group of semi-finals? Therefore if we drew the teams I mentioned, we would get Kosovo in the semi-final and then the winner of Northern Ireland or Ukraine in the final.
