82 | Rico Lewis - 2025/26

Its laughable that the 2 worst players (Rico & Sav) in the squad (and that's some doing with the current crop) have been awarded huge deals.

Absolutely mind boggling.
The decision making from the board since the treble has been absolutely horrendous. We won’t be challenging anytime soon giving championship players long contracts.

This thread has a terrible, terrible, Edghillesque whiff about it.
Rico was poor last night, as was nearly every player on the team.
He has given some excellent performances too, and is just 21.
There is no squad in world football with 22 superstars. We need squad players and emerging talents.
I, for one, am very glad that Rico Lewis is a part of the squad I support.

'Laughable', 'nothing player', 'Championship player'...get a grip.

I keep reading this Richard Edgehill stuff. Look at Edgehills career, those that said at the time that he was no good, were bang on the money. He was no good. It’s not like he turned his career around and proved everyone wrong.

People can disagree with how the fans went about voicing their displeasure back then but remember there was limited internet and no forums. People voiced their opinions from the Kippax instead of on Bluemoon.

You have every right to defend Rico but ultimately it’s up to him to prove me and many others wrong. Edgehill couldn’t do it back then. We don’t think Rico can do it now. It’s fine to have that opinion.

I’m not, he’s fucking wank.

We should have snapped Forest's hand off when they offered 30 million for him, not good enough, never has been and never will be, as people have mentioned before he's a 'nothing 'player.

I havent been a fan for a long time but in fairness to him, last night was on Pep, Rico was playing as a ten, in no world is he a number ten. He should have been set in beside Nico linking defence and midfield with a proper number 10 doing what number 10s do. Pep should have played Mukusa if he wanted a number 10.

But the signs arent good for him at the minute.

I've defended him a lot. He's got loads of talent. But don't think this is the club for him anymore. Hasn't nailed down a position in the team, not really sure what he can do in a Pep side now. Needs moving on.

Of course, and the same people expressed the same feeling about Nunes, Sterling, FFS Mahrez, Gundo, Plodri and even David Silva. This guy is 21 and not playing in the French second division but in the spotlight of the PL. For some reason, and I don't get it at all, there are certain players who cop ALL the flack when the team performs poorly and he is one of them. We were poor, collectively, but that in no way makes him a 'nothing player', which is just a stupid statement.

So far people have said he is not a RB, we have had he's not a DM. We have had he is not a 8 and now he is not a 10. So what the fuck is he? My opinion has always been tidyish in possession with a 5 yard pass- to whichever way he is facing. To small, not a ball winner and a liability with his glaring lack of pace. Thought this three years ago and he has gradually got worse. Needs moving on in January.

He is a local lad that ticked a lot of the squad boxes. Shown flashes of being able to play in a world class team when hes getting carried, when thats not there he looks a bang average player which is what he is.

This is where I am now. I just think it would be so much better for his career to go someplace else. I know he is an academy kid and who wouldn’t want to play for this club, but sometimes it’s not the best for every player. Sure, he’s had some real flashes of brilliance but I just thing wouldn’t it more satisfying to be a club playing every game and being a player the team builds around vs one that plugs the gaps?

And yes, I know we need squad players. So I appreciate the dilemma.

In Edghills defence he was giving his all in a truly awful period in our history. The pile on was shameful.
Unfortunately where Rico is concerned he's being measured by a totally different yardstick. Yeah he's an academy product, but comparing like for like he's nowhere near the levels of Foden and O'Reilly. The lad appears very likable, but he's mid table PL at best for me.
So in summary I agree - but let's keep the abuse to a minimum when he pulls on the shirt, I HATED the Edghill abuse
