The FOC thread.

There were a few silver 3d coins still about in the fifties

George VI silver threepenny coins were minted 1937-1945 but were all melted down only one came on sale for private sale since then.

I can't remember seeing an older one in my change at all even though as you say they were only demonetised in 1971.

The threepenny silver Maundy money however is technically still legal tender which is bizarre.

It’s brilliant isn’t it -and better still when you get two dollops in the same month
It is indeed. We all worked hard * mostly and deserve every penny. Coming up to my 2 year anniversary next month. I am very definitely a female assigned at birth never changed FOC. And apart from a gammy knee and intermittent plantar fasciitis with my health, I'm loving it. :-)

Old Money:-
240 pennies in a pound

480 Half pennies in a pound

960 Farthings in a pound

4 crowns in a pound

8 Half crowns in a pound

20 Shillings in a pound

80 Threepenny bits in a pound

40 sixpenny bits in a pound

1 pound and 1 shilling in a guinea

What could be simpler?
Decimal currency?

Just because I'm posting in this thread does not mean I'm accepting FOC status....not yet..
I actually played 6 a side outdoor footy last night, scored two goals and hit the crossbar with a stunning long range effort..........and now I can barely walk,so yes put me in the club now ;)

Exactly how old are you? The FOC committee needs to asses your suitability to be on this thread! :-)

Are the peasants revolting?

The amount of vitriol directed at people drawing the state pension is at one shocking and depressing. People deal with the hand they are dealt. Governments make the decisions that affect us all and we just have to go with them and that includes anybody drawing the state pension.
