No, they haven't yet. They've offered $83Bn ($73Bn in equity). Still requires Govs (US in particular) across the world to approve it.

Think this'll take around 18 months to close the deal, so it leaves room for challenges and counter offers. Probably lots of threats to sue cos it's Netflix where the cash cow dies.

Interesting times ahead.
Well it’s been accepted and they will grease Trumps wheels so it will be a fine deal, only others in fir it were Saudis

I think they offered a dollar more per share which landed them 1st place.

However, the Saudis have the Evil Ellisons fronting them and that fam's one of Trump's besties, so...

@Bigga I see Paramount going for hostile takeover let’s see who pays off Trump the most

Yeah, had a feeling the Ellisons wouldn't let this go. In bed with the Saudis and I think they've added Trump's son-in-law Kushner, too, so the board will have to reject the deal outright or Netflix ain't getting this.

It's a real Hobson's Choice here; Netflix could possibly kill off Hollywood in its current form with the way streaming has gone OR the Ellisons could kill off Hollywood with its anti-liberal, White conservative, pro 'Murica/ Israeli outlook!!

It's a bitter pill for some, either way.

Which way would you go...?

I think the cinema or its concept is dead, im a film nut and would regularly go 1/2 times a week up until around 10 years ago especially with an unlimited card. Since smart phones it’s become a shite experience, people on them and the whole culture of people taking etc at films I just don’t go anymore and the cost especially food extortionate)I took my own). Then Covid happened, I’ve built my own cinema at home and it’s probably better than some cinemas. I’ve even sacked off watching the new Avatar because of cost. The reason I bring this up is how Netflix release films, they may decide cinema isn’t the way anymore! It would be a big nail in the coffin if they did that unless it was a huge film say Superman but that could be out 4 weeks later on your tv, I know I’d wait to see it then.
Paramount I only really know it’s the richest man a friend of Trump and I gather they don’t know that much about the film tv stuff and Netflix are much bigger in those terms. Obviously I guess it will be who gives the most to Trump but he ain’t happy with CBS news which Paramount now own, so who knows!

Yeah, it's interesting.

I, actually, don't mind if Netflix had it. Last time I went to the cinema was to see the last "Superman" and boy was I shocked that it was £17 for the day showing!! Not been since way before Covid, so that price was a real shock!

So, I won't be returning myself, unless it's a family event!

Same here, me and the mrs go and its dead usually, makes us wonder how long it will stay open.

Cinema's are dying but I think they will continue in some niche way, they already endured the advent of TV and Videos then the internet and streaming/piracy.. I think some people do enjoy that experience you mentioned and if they start serving alcohol it might give it a bit more life.
