33 | Nico O'Reilly - 2025/26

He probably needs rest at some point. But his competition just came back from injury, and about to go to AFCON.

He looked a little bit tired today. I am sure he had cramp in the week also.

Looking over the horizon, he may get rested for the Brentford game and maybe one of the last two Champions League fixtures, but based on Guardiola’s past experience, he’ll probably play him until Ait-Nouri returns.

His level had dropped in the last few games but he was right back on it today. Top performance.
He was excellent today, really top drawer.
The ebb and flow of player development - no player, especially young players, offer game in and game out excellence.

Liked his forays into midfield today, I imagine that’s where his future lies
But for the time being he has casually been the best left back in the league this season by a mile
I think people might be sleeping on what a potential monster of a player we have on our hands here
Skill, energy, physicality, great in the air. If he played for a redshirt he would be hyped to fuck. But I admire how he has his head screwed on right for a young lad

I am actually excited about ait nouri and don’t think we’ve seen anything he has to offer yet. But it’s impossible to justify taking Nico off. He’s been great.

The boss needs to move him into midfield alongside nico when we are seeing out games or Rodri depending when either is fit he’s more than capable. Top player

Talent and humility is a lethal combination.
This guy is already at a very high level but clearly listens and wants to learn and improve.
With his physicality too, he has vast potential.

Nico is potentially the most versatile player we've had in a long time.

It's very rare to have a player who could potentially play centre back, fullback, as a number 6, a number 8, or as a number 10. He is that good that I could visualise him playing in any of those positions if the situation demanded.

I can therefore see why Pep speculated that he might play him as the backup number 6.

It's just so fantastic having a versatile gem like O'Reilly in the squad.
