Bit weird reading Salah's post match words, given that he's been one of the main reasons Liverpool even got within putting a glove on us on recent years and sharing the last eight premier league titles (for those outside scouseland or not fearing retribution, read 2 of last 8).
Must be a bit similar to how teams saw kev last year for us? Or maybe worse, like what kev may have been for us in a season or two. Because I'm reading his words and thinking "yeah, but Salah mate you don't deserve to start, you make them a worse team and are trading off past glories".
What I will point out is that Kev, Ilkay, Sergio, Vinny, David Silva, Bernie this summer, Eddie, all City legends and all had the decency, self awareness and good grace to leave with their heads held high and never disrespected the club.
I do agree though. Liverpool have realised the contract was a mistake and is particularly unsustainable given the millions they've spunked coming under the spotlight for not performing from day one. He'll be ousted to Saudi if he doesn't have the fire on his belly to fight, and even then he may still be a yard behind, but too late Liverpool have realised that a right winger and a centre back were more important investments than breaking records for Isak and beating City to wirtz.
Worry for us is we also could do with both in the next 6 or 7 months, so could make our own pursuits harder. I think Liverpool will play it safer though this time around and go for free transfers and release clauses, ie Guehi and Semenyo. Still a gamble and drop in quality from the Salah and Van Dyke of a few years ago.
