7 | Omar Marmoush - 2025/26

We persuaded him the year before by doubling his salary but he still wanted to go.

And I'll let you in on a little thing called reality..

No one likes being a backup player forever.

That's how we've lost:
Dzeko
Balotelli
Negredo
Jovetic
Bony
Jesus
Torres
Alvarez

We seem to get an average of 2 years out of them since they all want to go somewhere and be the main man!
Cheer up we manage to keep some back up players.

Pep or someone on the staff has persuaded Phillips to stay.

Dzeko more than Alvarez if we're honest with ourselves!

A lot of City fans think back fondly on Dzeko.. more than you think anyways..
Dzeko has been my favourite player, probably along with Zabaleta. I'm not talking about City fans, I'm talking about our management.
They didn't seem to perturbed about him going.
We seemed to go through a good few forwards, Jovetic, Torres, Bony who just seemed to drift in and then out of the club.

I'm hoping when he returns from AFCON he is in a bit of goalscoring form and gets regular game time. He needs it and we will need it too.
I think that he is so different in style from Erling that the team struggles to play to his strengths. If Egypt do well at Afcon he will probably not be back in time to play against Exeter and/or Bodo Glimt - two games where he could expect to start.

Under Mancini and Pellegrini we’d often have 4 strikers in which caused issues, under Pep we’ve had 2 and that’s still caused problems.

Genuinely don’t think you can get a player happy to be a back up or rotation striker who is good enough to play at the required standard at City, at least not for too long as we saw with Jesus and Alvarez.

The beauty of Marmoush in theory is that he could play both at LW and ST but form and fitness hasn’t materialised yet this term.

Would a big mistake to let him go now. He didn't get a proper chance, and when he did (last season), he played well.
The problem is that he appears to be the Haaland back up and only coming on for a few minutes at the end of a match.

He was very unlucky to get injured right as Doku found a new level of consistency and cemented that position in off the left flank. That has limited him to just Haaland understudy minutes, of which there have been precious few

He's a good player with a mix of attributes we don't necessarily have elsewhere in the team, but he's always been a somewhat uneasy fit with our shape and style
