City going after fans who gave their ticket to mates at Madrid

It sounds like that this Madrid trip was no different from others but Madrid were stricter in letting fans in.
When i was there at the 2/1 win the same rules were in place.

Get rid of the long-term fan for an 'audience' of high payers who'll buy plenty of merchandise, this has the bonus of no partisan traveling support, so no segregation needed and more seats to sell. The atmosphere will be replaced by AI through the speakers.
Just beware though when the team isn't as successful in the future City and you haven't still got the core support that go through wind, snow, sleet and rain.

...didn't sell it, gave it away

easy - just say no one - I didnt sell it. . "Turned up but left my ID in hotel so they wouldn`t let me in."
You 2 clearly haven't dealt with the new regime at City.
Guilty until you prove yourself innocent is the current mantra.
None of those excuses are going to clear you .

Madrid is the one place where giving your ticket to a mate is dodgy as. Names are printed on the ticket and checked at the gate. Why are people shocked therefore that passing your ticket on results in trouble? They haven’t written the names on for fun - the intent is clear that the person named on the ticket should be the one to use it. It could be a contractual thing from Madrid or UEFA that breaching these Ts and Cs means fans will be banned and whether people like it or not the club will be required to enforce this.

I’m sorry that this isn’t in line with the mainstream view but I don’t see anything surprising. Everyone knows the score with Madrid away it’s been the same for years and if people have taken the risk it’s a risk that was well known. Maybe I’m just risk averse!

City are emailing fans whose tickets got rejected at Madrid for incorrect details.
Seen one of the emails today my mate got sent.....who did you sell it to? How much for? Etc.
I would just tell the club it was me, I was drunk and lost or forgot my ID and then demand I get a refund for the ticket as I wasn’t made explicitly aware I needed ID to enter the ground.

Best defence is a good offence ;)

It's because it wasn't a popular trip. We've played Madrid so many times recently that the demand wasn't there this time. I'm all in favour of clamping down on high pointers passing on tickets to people who don't have enough points to wait their turn to apply.

i think taking 2500 to madrid pre christmas after numerous trips is a cracking effort, the media go giddy over clubs like dortmund (the best supporters in the world) who returned half the allocation at the Etihad. Our away support in europe is very decent

Do we know how long the ban is?
I had to collect at Newcastle but they wouldn't tell me what would happen If I didn't
Interesting that you confirmed they are still checking? Its clear on the criteria but its gone very quiet with people confirming they have been pulled for collection

Did they tell u prior or just wipe the ticket with a paper one waiting for you at the ticket office in the toon

I don't go to the European aways so I don't know what happens exactly, but it is clear from the news that Liverpool, Man Utd and City are struggling with very significant touting operation. The BBC reported massive ticket fraud involving LFC and there is no reason to think that there are not similar but smaller operations going on at City. I think this is likely to be the background to what is going on.

I agree with that too. I was having a drink at Lancs CCC after the Derby last season and got talking to two lads from an OSC in the South West. Memberships only and just 1000 points each. How did they get tickets for the Swamp?
I would have thought because the OSC receives an allocation

Think we've got c.90 members in our OSC. We were allocated 1 ticket for the swamp Derby

Sold to a tourist with a half and half scarf for €500 with a bag of scampi thrown in. But told them they would have to make their own way to the stadium!!!!!

I got an email week of the game confirming I had to collect. For Newcastle the tickets were digital but in the email it states I had to collect at the away ticket office. I asked what happened If I couldn't collect but they never gave me an answer.

Funny enough when I went to collect off Mike he had a QR code ready for me to scan to download the ticket once I confirmed who I was. The ticket wouldn't download for me but worked for my mate who Mike let download the ticket onto his phone

So you think someone with a membership and 1000 points should be getting a ticket ahead of a season ticket holder with, say, 20000 points?
That really isn't the point. The OSC gets an allocation and that gets distributed according to the branch criteria. It's been the case for as long as I remember. No one thought it was a problem prior to 2012.
