Brentford (H) | EFL Cup | Post Match Thread

That was an impressive performance particularly given the number of changes Pep made. Some really good, slick, close passing against a packed Brentford defence aided by some questionable positioning from the referee. Ake looked composed and confident and Kushanov recovered well from an indifferent first half.

Some cracking football in difficult conditions tonight foden rejniders cherki nico g nico o were so good on the ball savio had a really good game too there is defo a top player in there IMHO just needs the confidence!!! He's gonna be needed over the busy Xmas period. Ake and khusanov defended really well when called upon too.

Couldn't wait to hear the final whistle to be honest, it was just that kinda night ..... thank f'ck the ref didn't add 12 minutes of injury time on, like they do across the road at the Theatre of Drips ..... because of the driving rain it was never a spectacular, but a few of the kids had a run out, and we got the goals that mattered without conceding any, so it was a job well done in the end.

Cherki did well enough again, great goal too .... and Savinho made an impact in the 2nd half, so all in all we can be satisfied with the result .... mind you whether we'd have managed to keep 11 players on the pitch if VAR had of made an appearance is anyone's guess!

The last time we won 6 games in a row in all competitions was in April and May 2024...

Good result, I was expecting Brentford to provide a sterner test than they did. I do think Khusanov was a little lucky to remain on the pitch, one of those where you can argue either way. He needs to cut out his propensity to dive in and hang a leg out from his game, he has the pace to not need to do that.
Cherki was fantastic, lovely goal and great to see someone other than Phil shoot from distance. Savinho played well and put some good crosses in. Mukasa grew into the game and Lewis alternated between some good play and some sub parr play.
Good to see that 7 academy players actually had a part in the game, pity that Bobb went off injured again as you do feel this was a big chance for him. Nice little cameo from Carlie Grey.
