Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

SSL0 was better in the first half last night than they’ve been in most PL games this season.

Second half they didn’t bother but, as TotO says, it was still better than the Leeds PL game.

A Leeds supporting lad I know said he went to our recent game with them, and he asked what the fuck has happened to our support and said it was like we’d replaced the fanbase from the 7-0 game a few years ago.

That wasn’t difficult to be fair. I think the Leeds game is one of the worst atmospheres we’ve had for years. The south stand was silent, with the rest of the ground

Thought the corner section was pretty good last night

Thought the Palace fans were okay as usual, nothing special. There's huge hype around them, but their ultras are more concerned by social media clicks than anything else. To be fair, the atmosphere used to be dead and it's a lot better thanks to the ultras than it ever was before and their FA Cup atmosphere for the semi and final were different level.

In terms of what we're singing - this is a group of players who need supporting. They need their own songs and their own support. We had a long period of success, with lots of players delivering consistently and having those big moments with the club. Zabba and Yaya and Dzeko were at least familiar. Those songs are fine late on when the game is won, but we could probably get so much more out of the team if the players on the pitch were getting a song from the stands.

Fans now are more interested in social media clicks.
What they don't realise and I include the club's.
Is the more social media wankers the less proper fans.
The less excitement.
The less of what these twats are trying to film.
10 years football will be dead.
Real fans will have walked away.
Grounds will be full of fake twats filming each other.
Be like americanfootball.

Any chance of a timescale?
The game was going to die in the 60s due to the abolition of the maximum wage.
The game was going to die in the late 90s after the formation of the Premier League, and the Champions League was going to die after 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams were allowed to enter.
The game was going to die several times in the 2000s and 2010s as more and more games were moved from 3-00pm to accommodate the greed of broadcasters.
The Super League might have done for some but fortunately it didn't happen.
The game has changed, not necessarily for the better in some aspects, but look back at the weather the other night and consider spending a couple of hours on an open terrace in that deluge.
And if you weren't there; you wouldn't have seen the full game on the telly before mass broadcasting.

It's like even the old school proper fans have given up.

Bloke next to me after 20 minutes said it is what it is.

Not for me .
I had my dad's ticket today just so it was used.
Lasted till half time .
 
Honestly on the TV it doesn't sound any worse than the vast majority of Premier League games, on the Saturday before Christmas, second versus bottom 3, game not hugely attractive or competitive.
Sometimes people just go to watch a game not sing songs, they have a couple of pints with friends and get out early before the public transport chaos, that's OK.

I did go and it was shite, fucking dreadful and frankly disrespectful to our players that they come into a half empty stadium especially what was supposed to be our most vocal stand and then finish the game with even less people there, don't know why some people bother going. Why would you buy a ticket in what is meant to be our most vocal stand arrive late, stand for 80 minutes in silence with your arms folded and then leave early??

Agree City fans moan about the atmosphere but we are no worse or no better then any other pl clubs.

All hardcore fans from all clubs moan about their lack of atmosphere.

The problem is the pl and who the clubs sell tickets to.

Other clubs atmosphere is irrelevant, we are talking about our own dreadful silent stadium don't give a fuck what happens anywhere else. Shouldn't use others as an excuse to accept our our mediocre output.

I don't want to sound like an arsehole, but are you saying you left at half time because you didn't think the crowd was good enough...?!
