27 | Matheus Nunes - 2025/26

Nunes has been one of the best right backs in the league this season for me but when he moved into the middle he was a bit sloppy trying make the pass forward to quickly! Yep he could fill in there if we desperate..
I thought he was sloppy in thd middle too. But with a bit of time he can easily fill in there. Especially if he gets good support from the likes of Fodsn, Berny or Lewis.

2-3 passes were too ambitious, trying to help Haaland to score a hat-trick...

But the 3rd goal came from another ambitious pass from Nunes. He was defensively sound at DM and did well. Pep may play him there without being desperate.

He may be, along with Rico, the PERFECT City squad player. They can both play multiple positions, are solid players who never give anything but their best, and cause ZERO problems. In MN’s case, he has taken a challenge, met it, and is starting to excel at it.

Like everyone, he feels like he has a mistake in him, but which player doesn’t?!

We obviously overpaid for him as a potential CM for us when he has become a RB, but we have paid handsomely over the years for FBs and he’s developing ridiculously well in that position.

If he could work on two things… a better, more cultured, touch (esp on the run) and a better choice of through ball…he could become a very high quality RB.

Long may it continue.

Was thinking how strange it is that a couple of years ago many of us were ruing that Paquettas transfer had fallen through and Nunes was a hasty replacement but amazing how much it's turned around. Pep factor in action I would say.

Shades of when Rodri first came to the club; remember the "Plodri" bullshit? A lot of posters need to look back at those comments, and hang their heads in shame. Same with Nunes; some of the stuff that was being posted, what, 18 months ago was ludicrous. It's like a section of our fanbase learned fuck all from the Rodri episode. Coming to play for Pep must be a shock to the system, compared to any other manager (that's why I'm reluctant to join in the grief that a section on here are giving Reijnders; let's see how he fares next season). Back on topic (!), Nunes has a justifiable shout to be our most improved* player in that aforementioned 18 months.

*note; improved, not necessarily the best.

Shocking that we somehow got a decent back up DM and a free top RB out of the Nunes failed 53M deal!

i think if you let even rodri play at fullback for a full match running up and down the pitch, he might misplace a few passes when you move him back to midfield in the 80th minute, so definitely excused for me

Gave the ball away too much when he was in midfield but thought he was very good at right back again and defensively when in midfield.

Probably MOTM overall.
