Media discussion - 2025/26

I hear they were brave and aggressive in attack! So, so aggressive and also brave. They lost 2-1, but you can't ignore how brave they were. Nor how aggressive, in attack, they were. They were very, very brave, in defeat, but it took bravery, and quite a bit of aggression, for them to lose.

(I believe this is pretty much what a mumbling potato told me on MotD2 last night)
Wait a minute, they had a production of MotD for 1 game?

they just called pep back to press conference " But Pep what if owner has lied about 115 charges "
“Yes, and what if my press conferences were full of tedious lapdogs who found it anathema to push anything other than the same old tired agendas that have been answered a hundred times before?
They would make for a rather boring, pointless and ultimately endangered press industry wouldn’t they?”

Foden has more goals in the PL than Arsenal’s Liverpool’s and the rags expensive striking options so far this season and he’s playing midfield. Cherki is second in the assist charts and he’s missed a few games with the injury he had. Doku has terrorised the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool and the rags this season and Nico Gonzales is starting to look like a steal of a buy.

That’s even before we start talking about how good the best keeper in the world has started life at City. And the 19 year old midfielder playing left back making a very good claim to be starting for England in the World Cup. Yup we are deffo a one man team.
We have been the highest scoring team in Europe for pretty much the last 12 years and have won the most trophies. I wonder what Merson’s definition of elite is.

Just knew as soon as pep said he'd weigh the players after Christmas, that the media would have a field day with it. Even football manager now has taken weight out of the game as a visible metric and factor, to avoid upsetting people. The fact they chose this years edition do it, being the same edition they introduced women's football, was probably ill advised.

In reality it's a key measurement of fitness and discipline to the cause, and I imagine pretty much every team is keeping a check on it as, if like Pep said, if a player comes back 3kgs heavier in a week, nearly half a stone, then it's a problem potentially. I get it's hard at this time of year, but for professional athletes at the top of their game it's a necessity if they want to be the best.

Still, Pep hates fatties is a much better attention grabber!

I personally won't be following Pep's guidelines, being that I'm in my 40s and have no realistic prospect of winning a premier league medal this season. But if any premier league club wants to pay me upwards of £80k per week then I'll reconsider. Although I did just buy some Gouda, manchego and Comte that just won't eat themselves...
You do see the pattern here, don’t you??

Yep, hosted by some scouse nepo-adult, a mumbling potato, and a self proclaimed "un*t*d legend" who only played 12 games and scored twice for them.
What an absolute waste, on every part!

Slightly surprised, but not shocked. This season, and especially this festive period, has proved that they aren’t there just to report, they are there to influence on the part of the Red tops, more so United.

Got beat 2-1 and the (first 10minute section of the) analysis was all about how they were "brave and aggressive" (a phrase Rooney repeatedly mumbled and stumbled over probably 10 times) in attack. Him being on it is insulting enough, but they scored 1 goal and got beat!? So they choose to analyse their attack?!?

Ministry of Truth/BTN at their finest.

If you go on-line and watch some of the fan forums of other teams most of them are fair and praise City and individual players. It really is the mainstream media that have the love-in with the red cartel and total disdain for City. You might have thought it would be the other way round. I came across a clip after the West Ham match where O' Hara and Cundy were trying to think of a new adjective to describe the level of Haaland's performances before Cundy started waxing lyrical about NOR.

didnt they only have 1 shot on target 2nd half ?

Oh, come on! You can't reduce it to meaningless stats like that!
It's their bravery that counts. That and their aggressiveness.
Shots on target? Pffft! ;)
Their shot on target if I remember correctly was from their new unbelievable, amazing WC Scouse kid who aggressively shot straight into the arms of the keeper from 20 yards out.

Merson is doing a weekly snide section on City at the moment.

‘Without Haaland we’d be midtable’
‘City ain’t an elite team’
‘Pep leaving in the Summer’ etc etc

Been going on for weeks. You would think we are in a title race with 2 of his former clubs
FUCK PAUL MERSON. He's a fucking idiot.

Unbelievable.

Without Haaland. Blah, blah fucking blah. This man is a fucking IDIOT.

You have to wonder who is manipulating all this positive coverage of utd yesterday. I thought both utd and villa were dreadful.

But you have to wonder what is going on with the collective positivity around utd from the punditry stooges. They have won 2 games in 2 months - and one of those was against the worst team in PL history - yet somehow it’s all positive coverage ?

Listening to the two gobshites on comms you'd have thought they were a mix of The Harlem Globetrotters and Prime 70's Brazil.
