Lucas Paquetá

Can see the attraction, lowish fee, can play different midfield roles, talented for a back up player.
Drawback is once he's signed, harder to go back in for a top notcher if the decks are full.
Tempting as quality back up, bit like when we got ptizaman as an extra mf with Roberto

Never recovered from that debilitating hamstring injury. Prior to that, however, he was an exceptional player and a perfect foil for both Toure and Silva.
Nasri is in the subset of players that when the chips are down, fans don’t see that he cares enough and so will call him lazy or whatever.

Gundogan got the same treatment until he became Mr Whippy.

Mahrez too.

Reijnders is the latest version.

Apparently, if he is on a free you cant dismiss that. And i think he'll accept being a squad player to move up. He'll be a more skilled Kova. Someone capable of starting many games at many positions but not a top 11 lock.

I wont target him for big money. But for a minimal fee or close to free its a no brainer.
He'd be the perfect replacement for Kova if Kova is to be moving on...

No argument that he was an exceptionally talented baller, but for me, he did have commitment issues ( possibly due to injury).

I was a huge fan and was always happy when he played, but we never knew what we were getting.

Paqueta, is a similar situation. Brilliant on his day, but you don’t know from one game to the next what player you are getting.

Where are the reports of being available on a free or for a low fee from? I've seen his contract expires in 2027 and West ham can extend for another year, so why are they wanting rid of him?

I doubt we’d have bought Nasri if there had been commitment issues, nor would we have pursued Paqueta had such questions lingered. Both players were/are full internationals as well, which makes their constant digging out rather tiresome.

Save for one season, West Ham have been in flux for the duration of Paqueta’s time with them, and context should always be considered when assessing a player. Last year, for instance, we never knew what we were going to get from almost all of our own from one game to the next, yet now they are models of consistency.

I think alot of the Nasri hate came from when he ducked out of the wall in the derby to allow van persie score the winner.
