Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

Christ, how much is he after?

It's going to be a minimum of £200k most likely.

City cannot offer him big money. Our wage bill at the moment is in excess of £400m and needs to come down.

I think we will start seeing lower contracts here on in with the promise that if they show what is required they will get a bumper pay day in 12 months like we used to.

So what’s Chelsea and rags and dippers wage bills? Can’t be much different to ours, so why can they offer £200k+ a week but we can’t?

Chelsea have that system where they have players on less wages per week, but have it over 6, 7 , 8 years. Either way it's guaranteed. Looks better on the yearly bill for them though as it is better amortised.

United's annual payroll is less than both ours and Chelsea's.

All of them had to take a pay cut because of no Europe.

Far too much misinformation is going to be abound on this from fan sites that have no clue.

Whoever he signs for it is going to claimed he went for the money or another nefarious reason.

City as ever will walk away if he doesn't fit our financial structure, we have before on better players, so the wage issue is smoke and mirrors to cover any fans of teams that miss out with an easy excuse.

I don’t think it’s an issue. Players on decent money with expiring contracts and players we are trying to shift. Let’s be honest when Grealish goes in the summer that’s 300k a week off the books. Ake, Stones, Ortega, Phillips all on decent money as well. It will be fine unless he’s asking for crazy money. Marmoush is on 275k(ish) a week reportedly

In the accounts those annual wage bill will be about 40/50m lower because the payers who have gone there wages are still included in them..

Is that not based on 24/25 accounts and squad - eg with KDB, Gundo, Grealish, Akanji, Walker, Ederson etc. I know the new lads won't be on pittance but I'm sure it'll be a reduction

He’s good, but I wouldn’t be overly arsed if he doesn’t come.

He goes to us, Liverpool or Chelsea he is interested in furthering his chances of silverware, whilst getting paid more than handsomely.

He goes to the rags and he is only interested in money. That’s fine, people have their own motives I suppose.

Again, can’t really say I’m arsed either way on this one.
