Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

Well you obviously can’t as Fabrizio didn’t say 12 hours prior, he said pushing a lot in the last 12 hours which still means pushing.

He is not a live reporter. And last 12 hours can mean either, up to the reader.

And you are reading into it what you want it to mean. He has deliberately left ple ty of room otherwise though. And room to reiterate the same thing over and over too in the coming days.

Well we weren’t negotiating in the night were we, lol. It was a new tweet.

Exactly, one that said very little. So both could yet turn out to be 'right'. Without necessarily even knowing anything. Hence right is in quotation marks.

Trying to think neutrally, Liverpool makes most sense to me. Salah leaves after AFCON or in the summer, Semenyo is his replacement as the goalsoring winger but he’s incredible defensively so that solves their big tactical problem. Plenty of reasons to think he’d win lots of trophies.

Chelsea don’t pay serious wages anymore, United are a basket case.

City…Doku - Haaland - Cherki might well be Peps most fixed lineup since Sterling-Aguero-Sané or Villa-Messi-Pedro. They’re arguably our 3 best players. There’s no obvious space for him to go and start every game like at Liverpool. Then I guess the charges might factor into and Peps uncertain future past July or next season.

Good points but Semenyo can play a lot at City even without taking injuries into account.

There are 3 positions behind Haaland: roughly, a 7, a 10 and an 11: Cherki, Foden and Doku.

If Pep rests one of them every 3-4 games, then Semenyo can start in 3 from 4 games:

1. Cherki, Foden, Doku
2. Semenyo, Cherki, Doku
3. Cherki, Foden, Semenyo
4. Semenyo, Foden, Doku

Now, Pep is likely to use also Marmoush and Savinho/Bobb (one of these will probably leave). Then the likes of Semenyo and Doku will start in 2 from 3 games instead of 3 from 4 (without factoring in injuries). Sounds good.

And also the lowest form of wit I’m told !
Anyway, let’s agree to disagree in the spirit of Christmas.
I’m well aware it’s the lowest form of wit. I’m happy to disagree but I am a glass half full and will still be optimistic even should Haaland get injured or Pep leaves or even if we started with everybody’s favourites Lewis, Nunes, Savinho and Bobb.
