Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

Seen a few say we don’t need him and have ‘bigger needs’ in the squad. I’d actually disagree with that completely. We’ve been absolutely crying out for goal threats from wide areas for a good while now.

Certainly agree that our midfield is light and we could do with an extra body in there, but I guess the hope is Rodri finally gets going again soon. That eases the midfield issues massively. We have plenty of players capable of playing in the advanced roles. Also finding a midfielder that’s even remotely our standard, willing to move and isn’t cup tied in the January window is far more of a tall order than a wide player.

Whether Semenyo can make the step from Bournemouth we’ll see, but he’s looked great for a year or two now and I definitely back the signing if it happens
 
Feeling quite smug as I battled with a number of people on here, with the idea of this guy being our priority signing in the summer, and got pelters.

He's powerful, with a real goal and assist threat.

He's not as adept technically as a lot of our players, so go easy on him, but for me he starts to address the power/physicality imbalance in the squad.

Delighted if we get this done.
 
We may well be doing so behind the scenes and we just don't know about it but I wish/hope we are working on a central midfielder just as hard as we seemingly are on this, that surely has to be the priority for the window.

Semenyo is a good player, I like him but I dont see the urgent need for him, he doesnt get into our current best 11 imo and he surely isnt going to be content with a bit part role.
 
Fingers crossed City can get this done. His goals and assists prove that he is a very strong player. I think he will complement City very well. If he joins, it's perfect timing with City pushing hard in the Premier League, Champions League and League Cup and with the FA Cup about to start.
 
smart lad. It's obviously a self fulfilling prophecy, but if he has the wits to know who to join, that bodes well for his chances of success
