Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

Semenyo is a good player and having a fantastic season, no doubt. But don't like this transfer for us.

I assume he would join as a rotation player for this season with a view to pushing into the first team next year. But what signal does this send to Doku who's in the form of his life and only just now has made the position his own?

This signing would have made more sense had we sold Savinho for £65m in August to Tottenham like we should have. Right now, it risks squad harmony to add further depth in a position where there's a lot of it elsewhere

Demoralising for Doku, pushes out Marmoush, adds complications for Foden & Cherki, further reduces Savinho's gametime and Bobb's opportunities without improving our best XI
It's not LW we're trying to improve.

Cherki is not our permanent RW. Savinho is a long way off. Bobb is one foot out the door.

At worst this is a very good depth signing.

Kovacic has not been ‘good’.

Nunes was signed as a central midfield replacement for Gundogan

Grealish was for £100m underwhelming - about a 1/2 good season. We cant take the piss out of United for Pogba and then give ourzelves a pass for Grealish
Kovacic has been good for us. Nunes is doing well for us, even if not in the position he was originally signed for.

Pogba left the rags on a free, they then signed him for a large fee and then he left again on a free. All in all he managed to help them win the Europa league and a league cup. Grealish came to us for a large fee, helped us to win 3 league titles, an FA cup, Champions League, Super cup and Club World cup. No idea how much we will recoup when we sell. I know which I think was the better deal.

Other than Grealish having 4 League titles, a Champions League, and FA Cup, a uefa cup, and a club world cup - and Pogba having (..checks google..) an EFL cup?

I can't even start with people that say this stuff, Grealish was obviously essential for the treble winning year, he was so consistent and so relentlessly on it for that run in. Yes, you can say he didn't realise the promise of being our record signing but no you can't say he was a flop.

Some 'all actions' highlights of Semenyo. I haven't watched it all, but there's a lot to like, and also enough to realize he has areas he can improve(obviously).

What really stands out is how two-footed he is.

Didn't see Pogba being a lynchpin in a treble winning season. Let's not forget the fact, Jack was fucking incredible that season

Doku and Haaland have power in abundance.
Haaland obvioulsy

Doku's speed is over 5 yds...he doesnt run away from defenders over longer distances....not sayng he is slow..he aint but the only one with any real pace and power is Haaland..

Physically Semenyo is way physically stronger than Doku who due to his low centre of gravity is amazingly difficult to knock off the ball...but raw poer Semenyo is better

Im not too sure on this transfer myself so just trying to find some positives
