Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

I have a sneaking suspicion that Pep ultimately wants Cherki and Foden in the middle but currently can't because he doesnt trust our winger options.

Cherki played well holding the width against West Ham, but I dont think that's the end goal.

I could see a 433 with Doku, Semenyo wide, Cherki and Foden in the middle.

And instead of fullbacks overlapping, O Reilly simply inverts (sorta solving the midfield problem simultaneously), while Nunes is an RCB as he has usually been.

Haaland obvioulsy

Doku's speed is over 5 yds...he doesnt run away from defenders over longer distances....not sayng he is slow..he aint but the only one with any real pace and power is Haaland..

Physically Semenyo is way physically stronger than Doku who due to his low centre of gravity is amazingly difficult to knock off the ball...but raw poer Semenyo is better

Im not too sure on this transfer myself so just trying to find some positives
I agree with this comment but not your previous one. I am sure you said power originally. Power is the rate of change of energy. It's units are Joules per second, or the Watt. It does not relate directly to speed on the football pitch but to explosivity. Doku has startling acceleration but as you say he is not particularly fast over longer distances.

I do think that Cherki has added to City's options on the right but earlier in the season, City had a problem in the goalscoring power of our wide forwards. Look at Semenyo's record. His transfer solves that. We need 2 top players on the right hand side. This transfer would give us that.

Imagine Cherki playing in Semenyo. He would score a lot of goals imo, if he signs.

Reminds me a little of PSG last season.

Flying wingers but fullbacks who offered their fair share in midfield when needed.

I am all down for it because it will be like Centurions City which for me was our best football under Pep.

I loved this. You could see the bloke was twitching at the thought of the Arsenal being caught by likkle old City, once again.
Even better, he said he should go to Spurs, whose manager isn’t exactly guaranteed to see out January…
And then, best of all, the bloke hosting the evening paper thing they do actually said that Semenyo could be very much like Asprilla at Newcastle and, not only could he destabilise City, but it coild all end like that Keegan era did. They’re actually terrified…
Yeah, with 2 big Blues in Ziegler and Rath an Wanker fully endorsing from home, surprised the 115 wasnt mentioned !

Im not surprised that players wants to play for the biggest clubs in the world. And currently City guarantees some success. But it always amaze me how often they are ready risk their game time. Someone like Kalvin Phillips is good example of that. Semenyo would very likely have a bigger role but it's not guaranteed that he would be a starter.

"I’m sorry, but I’m not having that.

City are not a big club. They’re a successful club, but they’re not a BIG club.

Villa and Newcastle are a bigger clubs than City."

Oh dear they`re not very happy on the Rag Cafe and their salty tears are wonderful.

Love the Sky sports news reporting "manchester city emerge as the frontrunner for semenyo" acting like its a horse race and we've stormed to the front from nowhere when everybody else has seen us leading from the start.

If cherki isn't our permanent RW option, what is he because he doesn't displace Foden centrally and that is the only way you can get both into a healthy side.
Pep must have really hated that rabona :)

Get rid of project player for another project player and get mad when new project player is inconsistent like our old one and be extra annoyed because he cost €100m.
Love how some people make up unfounded bizarre narratives and then complain about their own made up nonsense. LMAO

We wait on the chap, the only chap, that has ever won a Ballon d’Or in our colours. As well as getting his age wrong, you also seem to be ignoring the fact that he’s actually played for us 8 times this season. His return has not been smooth, granted, but he and Bernardo are the two best midfielders at the club, and rushing either out of the door, let alone both, would be wanton stupidity.
Where did I say we should rush Bernardo out? I said we need to get his replacement soon because he's leaving next Summer. And yes, Rodri won Ballon d'Or in 2024 but in a one week time, it's going to be 2026 and we should not live off from the old glory because we might as well call ourselves Man United part 2 in that case.

Well everyone is telling us that our squad is lacking in quality and depth, he would certainly improve that. Were he plays and fits in? Il leave that for pep to solve! The other plus with this signing is? He would be a great fit for some of our rivals. But he won’t be much good to them if he is playing for us.
Semenyo plays as a right winger. Obviously a big improvement on Savinho and Bobb.
