Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

Looks a shit signing to me, there simply to make up the numbers and fill the English quota. Hes 26 years old in 2 weeks and has achieved absolutely nothing in his career apart from winning EFL Championship Player of the Month in January 2022. Looks nothing more than a slightly above average player in a good run of form. A poor man's Wilfred zaha

There's probably 15-20 wide attackers comfortably better than him in this league alone. Feels like at worst it could be a scott sinclair job and at absolute very best he might make a fraction of the impact grealish had
There's probably more who feel like you but are holding back posting due to the abuse they'll get.

Fair play to you, I've not read further but I'm sure you've had some replies and hopefully all have been understanding of your view and being balanced in their replies.....

Fair enough. Interesting that United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs wanted him.

Saw this on the BBC article:

Bournemouth accept they are vulnerable to losing their key player and willing to negotiate with any club prepared to allow him to stay with them until the end of the season.

I would have thought the lad would have been keen to join a club that was potentially going for honours this season not next. Probably just a wish from the BBC rather than a serious risk.
thats exactly it , wishful thinking from rag central

Happy to admit i dont watch a great deal of football other than City do not really seen this bloke

Is he a Doku type player ? Looks it off clips
Same here. I just watch City and maybe a smattering of other stuff if I'm bored. I've no idea how good this lad is other than opinions posted by people on here and pundits.

I like that he has steadily built his career from failed trials at a variety of London clubs as a 15 year old. That he went off to an academy programme, then Bath, Bristol - with a variety of loans before getting the chance to go to Bournemouth. He is not someone who has emerged as a wonderkid he has put some hard work in and that has borne fruit over the last year or so. That suggests that he is willing to work hard, to take chances when he gets them
and could be good around the squad.

I like what I see of him in a team that lives on the break. I've no idea what he brings to a team that dominates possession. That clip of situations shows him losing the ball a lot!
But it is clear that Pep is trying to create more options and he becomes another options.

In terms of squad building he takes the HG place that is available for both PL and CL - but unless someone else moves on it does not give space for the CM options that some feel we need.

Born in England but plays for Ghana, he's technically home grown but those rules need changing.

You'll catch a few with that.

Don’t think this is wrapped up yet personally. McGrath’s piece this morning about the dippers being in contention and us needing to sell before buying backs that up.

But then again I doubt we’d get this far without it being a near done deal.

At least we’ll find out before 10th Jan!

He’s looks decent, but I’m not sure who he starts ahead of or who loses out. Posters will say we need a big squad, but pep has rarely rotated players when fit and in form

I agree with this comment but not your previous one. I am sure you said power originally. Power is the rate of change of energy. It's units are Joules per second, or the Watt. It does not relate directly to speed on the football pitch but to explosivity. Doku has startling acceleration but as you say he is not particularly fast over longer distances.

I do think that Cherki has added to City's options on the right but earlier in the season, City had a problem in the goalscoring power of our wide forwards. Look at Semenyo's record. His transfer solves that. We need 2 top players on the right hand side. This transfer would give us that.

Imagine Cherki playing in Semenyo. He would score a lot of goals imo, if he signs.
agree with all that

I think its horses for courses.....Semenyo wont play every week.....where we have park the bus teams he may be on the bench.
His finishing is way better than any of our wide forwards however. .....

I just hope he puts the effort in to learning the intelligence side of Peps game....we've seen even more lately that Pep and the club value players that want to learn.

I actually think he may be a very useful player to have in the CL where teams tend to not sit back quite as much and games can be a little more open...especially away from home.

Marmoush feels like an early Viana misfire. We were linked to back up strikers the summer before, and it felt almost like Txiki asked him to go and find someone to replace Alvarez with.

I think Marmoush is pretty good, but he needs the ball played into space all the time which makes him an odd tactical fit for us. I’m sure we will need him after Xmas but it’s hard to dislodge Haaland in this form. Interested to see what game time he gets after AFCON but I can see him moving on come summer too.
Feels like we’ve wasted a lot of money on Marmoush

You’d better tell Pep.
