Media discussion - 2025/26

Even after nearly 60 years of watching football I learned something new from todays commentary.

City players commit "late challenges" so its a foul.

However City players getting challenged after playing the ball is ok cos "the ball has gone" so no foul.

The latter part of the above was highlighted for us in the newcastle game with schar on Phil.

Must be a recent rule revision.
Yet it's always given as a foul anywhere else on the pitch.

Yes, it's not often something genuinely new appears hours after the match, and that was. Very strange defending.

Rudiger did the same on Dias at the Bernabeu when O'Reilly scored. Didnt get highlighted much because we scored, but he put his arm behind Dias and launched himself forward.

It really doesn't make it easy for officials.

It was a good spot by Rooney. MGW got his comeuppance by trying to cheat. Not sure what he was trying to achieve, just defend properly.
When the ref is giving them soft freekicks all over the pitch he thought he’d throw himself to the floor and win cheat his team another easy freekick.
Oops didn’t work didn’t it?

Nearly as bad as Zoe Ball getting £900,000 a year for talking and playing some music on the radio.
Who actually signs off the contracts which are negotiated at the BBC?

Rooney, £800,000.

Rooney would have done it for £200,000.

Take it or leave it Wayne and your agent.

There is a queue of Pundits behind you ready to sign the contract, who are more intelligent and articulate, as well as more knowledge about football, than you are Wayne.

It was. I didn't notice it until it was pointed out by Rooney that it was MGW who actually committed the foul but Ruben probably got away with one yesterday. Good I'm glad he did.

I’ve posted previously about Rooney that (imo) personally he’s hard to dislike, and has the odd faintly amusing anecdote in his locker, but he is woefully equipped to combine the twin requirements of his job, namely analysis and articulation because he does not possess the requisite number of functioning brain cells.

He is also a fat, granny shagging ****.

Hey, Dyche, are you watching MOTD?

Will he admit he was completely wrong about Nico fouling Gibbs White? As Rooney said, if anything, the latter was fouling Nico, FFS!

How nice to see the goal go through his legs just a second later. Lmao.
"If anything"? There's no doubt whatsoever that Gibbs White tried cheating a 'soft' free kick out of the ref. Dyce knows full well what happened and was just hoping that the media would come down on his side. The only surprise is rughead actually backing us up.

Remembering of course that the TNT editors had that angle all the time and chose not to show it either on replay in the match or in the hour of analysis and reaction that followed. Blatant US cartel propaganda machine.
