Injuries 2025/26 | Doku ruled out for three weeks (p46)

In 2018-19 we had Sterling Sané Mahrez BSilva Foden (when the latter two mostly played on the wings) and even Jesus as options for our wide forward positions.

We’ve now only got Doku Cherki Savinho Bobb and then we also have Marmoush but he doesn’t suit playing on the wing and has mostly played as a centre forward in his career and BSilva and Foden (who are now both better centrally).

We have massively got room for Semenyo to come into our squad.

Semenyo can also play as a centre forward and has many times in his career. So if Marmoush ends up leaving at any point due to lack of game time in his favoured position, Semenyo could cover for Haaland.

Also, Doku is incredibly injury prone so we can’t rely on him to stay fit. This is before his current injury lay off, note how many are muscular injuries:

Semenyo has only missed 1 solitary game though injury in four seasons.

How many games has Doku missed this calendar year due to injuries? About as many as Haaland.

It's great that Semenyo's injury record is great, but Doku has been relatively fit from March to December. Given how many kicks he gets per game, for example at Madrid, it's normal that he is injured at times.

Most of Doku’s injuries are hamstring injuries rather than impact injuries.

The injury in Madrid wasn't hamstring related, according to Pep.

He hasn't been injury prone this year. He went nearly 10 months without an injury (February-December).

He’s had a good run but, if a good run is only 10 months, that’s an injury prone player.

Here’s Riyad Mahrez’s injury history for his entire career:

Bernardo Silva has only missed 11 games through injury in his [nearly] 8 years with us. Doku has missed as many as that in this calendar year which has been his best injury free run year in his career.

Calling him "incredibly injury prone" is a bit over the top. KDB had many injuries, Haaland had injuries, now Rodri... Bernardo and Mahrez are exceptional in that regard. Compared to them, 90% of the players are injury prone...

I think you’re missing the physical build of the players you’re comparing. Mahrez, Bernardo (&eg Sterling ) are slight, lightweight and dance through tackles. Doku is strong, powerful and explosive, like a 100m sprinter. Given this his injury record is pretty good imo. He will never be as resilient as Mahrez
