Family members supporting rival teams

Of the football fans in my immediate family two are rags, and three are City fans ....

Back in the 70s though times were a bit different and some people / or families would watch both Manchester clubs before eventually settling for one of them ..... doesn't seem to happen much nowadays.

Brother in law is a dipper. We get on well and will chat about football and often watch a prem match on tv together. As long as its not City v Liverpool its ok

Any of your family rags? I am talking immediate family.

I was born in Manchester and lived there for a few years but mostly grew up in London, but I support City because of family and being born there.

What I found in London quite often was that you'd get siblings that supported different London based teams. No doubt some families are staunch supporters of certain teams but plenty aren't.

It's something I never encountered much up north. I don't know families that have immediate members supporting different Manchester teams. Same with the Sheffields teams, Liverpool/Everton etc.

Its great - we are all Blues but some rags infiltrated by marriages and have had kids they brought up as rags too so a couple of decades of stick have been returned with interest thanks to our successes - drink it in Blues

Oh yes, I'd estimate 60% are Dippers, 30% Stretford and the rest couldn't care less.

Family of bloody glory hunters but those figures are about par for the course in Northern Ireland.

I've got an Aunt and Uncle who are Rag's. He's a bit of a ****, and she is just about bearable. Haven't spoken to either of them in over 20 years.

I've got another Uncle who a County fan, and he's a decent bloke.

My dad wasn't really into football. My mum's family were blues though.

My choice was made for me by my older brother though. When I was about 5, he was 6 ish, in the mid-sixties, he chose United, leaving me with Hobson's choice - City. Thanks Paul!
“My dad wasn't really into football.” Cue stunned silence when meeting someone like this on holiday before scratching your head and shuffling back to the missus, beer in hand and telling her…”you’ll never believe this …”

All blues and I love taking my daughters with me to matches.

Just hoping their allegiances stay strong so I end up with some blue grandsons/daughters too.

What? I’ve read those first two sentences a few times and still don’t understand it
Ok let me break this down,
My Mrs and her three lads are all rags
Maybe I should have just said the wife and our 3 boys are all rag fans.
I have 9 grandkids whose parents are all rags so I expect them to all go on to support the rags although because some of them are conflicted because of my influence.
Grandkids are 1-14 in age.

Youngest sister is a rag, think she started to support them to piss the old man off.
tbf she does go and watch the shit stains on a weekly basis, poor fucker she is

All my family were blues on both sides - my grandad used to go to Hyde Road ! The odd rag or two married in to the family. My two sons were match-going blues and shared a season ticket for a few years. Daughter not interested in football. Grandson City-mad. Eldest granddaughter is a blue, the others not really interested. Wife is blue. All wife’s family are reds on both sides - most of them have gone off football over the last few years “because it’s all about money now”. Father-in-law was a passionate Red but a lovely bloke and always at first sympathetic then complimentary about City. Like most Mancunians we all have mates and rellies from the other side !

The only rag in the family is my eldest son.... I had no contact until he was 16 and he was got at by his alcoholic Uncle and went to a handful of games at the swamp with him.

The wicked witch (his mother) before we split used to come to City with me....unbeknown to either of us she was just pregnant when we split up....she now goes to watch the raggetts.

My side of the family going back to both sets of grand parents were blue and all attended games, some much more than others.

Mrs Moon was a ST holder from quite a few years but stopped when our son was born however, still attends the odd game on a spare. 'Our' son was a ST holder with me from being a kid even up until last season when previously for the last 9/10 years he'd travel from work/shifts in Oxford for games, he's not now due to the above work & a 2 year old etc. but does manage the odd close London away game. Prior to their son he's got his wife into us too and she's attended a few games too.

To summarise I blame the courts and the wicked witch for me having a rag son.

Dad wasn't really that arsed but leaned to the rags
Mum was just an avid footy fan. If there was a game on anywhere she'd watch it regardless of who it was. Had a soft spot for dippers because of my brother and City because of me. She loved SWP, hated Ferguson.
Brother was a dipper. He'd go home and away with our uncle. That stopped after they were at Hillsborough. He now goes to Bury with his lad.
Cousins from Moston are rags. Cousins from Whitefield are blues.
