Even with the injuries, he should still go down as one of the best centre backs of the last 20 yearsI genuinely think that with fewer injuries Boulders would have gone down as one of the greatest centre backs of all time. He's that good. When he's fully fit and firing there is not a person past or present that I'd be choosing over him. Exquisite footballer. Rarely makes mistakes on the ball. One of those who makes it look like he's playing the game in slow motion.
@City_Shirts thank you. I always liked you, now you’ve gone even further up the EB chart of likeable BlueMooners. :-)Nearly 10 years at the club, and John Stones still embodies everything it means to play for City.
Through injuries. Through criticism. Through every voice that doubted him — he’s always come back. And not just come back, but performed. Again and again.
That’s resilience. That’s character.
John Stones is City through and through. A modern-day symbol of what this team represents: courage on the ball, intelligence in defence, and the mentality to fight for the badge no matter what comes your way.
If any of us were in his position, we’d hope we’d fight for our City career the way he has.
He’s a leader.He’s a warrior.He’s one of our own.
Respect
Only seems to be fit when international football is looming nowadays….Still a Rolls Royce of a player when fit.
I think you’re confusing the words resilience & stupidityPlaying through some of those injuries rather than taking months off every time he broke a nail would show true resilience and character. No surprise he's suddenly available again on the eve of a world cup squad being announced.
