45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

I don't think we will ever see that partnership, as much as we would like to
However, it worked rather well against Newcastle St James Park in the Carabao Cup, even though they were helped by Nico Gonzalez, I found us solid defensively.

Today's the day for venting and saying crazy stuff.. so here's my 2 crazy ideas..

It would be a lot worse tonight if not for Khusanov!

If Pep still insists on wanting to play Dias at the back.. Khusanov has to be made into a DM so he can snuff out fires before they get to Dias or the back line.

He's more valuable to City than Rodri and honestly I don't see that changing!

No. We just need to drop Dias and let Khusanov be what he is, a CB.

We don't need any Pep party tricks like trying to make him into something he isn't.

Play the best players in their best positions.

It’s Khusanov + whoever from now on. He is now to us what Kyle Walker was for so long - the sweeper, last line of defence. Absolutely rapid.
Absolutely rapid, and strong as fuck, making more and more right choices in the tackle, shirks fuck all, scared of no ****, calm on the ball, developing a cracking long and short passing game… fucking love him!

He's a monster of a defender , reminded me of Dias in his pomp only quicker , to be a great player he will have to come out of his shell and assert himself and be more vocal , but he is young and this will develop , what a brilliant signing.

Only goes to emphasis how bad of a decision it was from Pep to shift him out to right back and drop Nunes all to get Dias into the side. He has to be 1st choice centre back and the rest compete to partner him. He is the only player that can make our suicidal tactics even slightly workable.

Vini jr knew his run for nothing as soon as he saw Khusanov. The lad is lightning.

It’s better than walker cos he’s a cb and covers both channels. Walker had a habit of playing the other side attacker on and even he couldn’t get over quick enough.

Spot on. That decision was simply down to wanting Dias in the team.

People said it was to put Khusanov up against that little prick of theirs but Nunes also has plenty of pace himself, so that's not the reason.

It was simply to shoehorn Dias into the side last week, making us worse off at both centre back and right back in the process.

I understand sometimes rotating is necessary, but playing your best a CB at RB, and your best RB on the bench to accommodate your slowest CB, in Madrid, in a European knockout game. Stupidity.
