47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

Regardless am I wrong?? Foden is miles and miles and miles ahead of him in term of talent and achievement.
Talent and what you've previously achieved only gets you so far

If you honestly think Phil is ripping it up in training, and then being left shivering on the sidelines then youre deluded

He needs to look at himself its as simple as that

Bollocks that, Phil on his worst day is better than Reinjders on his best

That's not true at all. Pep spoke about the balance of the side when Cherki plays, if you watch the game back you'll see how much work Reijnders put in both to run into space ahead of the ball and to track Real and get back to try and defend. Foden doesn't have the energy for it. There's something bigger than football impacting Foden at the moment or he'd have come on/started. I'm not sure what the issue is but there's something physical or mental that's affecting him which is why Pep's taken him out of the side for a while.

He’s at that age where we all thought he would be first name in our and England’s team sheet. What has happened to him since winning the PL player of the season is an atrocity.

I love Foden and have been loathe to criticise him over the years, any quiet game he's had I've defended him on here and and said that he'll bounce back in a few weeks with a great performance - and he usually did.

I don't know what's going on with him, but just looking at him he looks very skinny especially round the face.

I felt a bit sad watching Max Dowman's goal at the weekend and the hype surrounding him, as that was similar to the hope that we had for Foden when he first came onto the scene, maybe not as young but there was great excitement nonetheless.
For ths first time i'm admitting that there's a chance he might not be at City in a few years now, and that will be very sad.

Reijnders is poor at defensive recovery, that's why he was subbed at halftime. On the other hand Foden usually is one of the most kilometers per game run, contributing actively in defense.

That's a typical case of "Perception VS Reality".

Think there’s something more to this.

No talk of Foden kicking up a fuss about being dropped which is strange. Almost like it’s been agreed that he won’t be playing for one reason or another.

I know the rumours last season about gut issues, maybe there’s some substance to the rumours. Seem so strange that he isn’t getting a look in, but there’s no talk of a move, or him being angry about the lack of game time.

Spoke volumes last night that it looked like he was never gonna come on. Such a shame. He'll miss out on the World Cup aswell. All very odd.

Not at all. Foden covers a lot of ground yes. But he isn't going to go tracking Vini at the other end of the pitch when he is usually out wide or in the 10 position. Reijnders was tasked with doing both jobs last night to help the balance in the side.

He was subbed at HT because Pep went three at the back and had to sacrifice him to get the balance right.

That's a typical case of watching the game vs looking at stats.

The saddest/scariest/notable thing is that when Phil wasn’t on the team sheet it didn’t really raise any debate. Whilst we want him to succeed currently there isn’t much to go at in terms of an argument to pick him.

He seems ok in himself though, laughing and joking with Richards last night pitch side after the warm ups, like most say it's weird
Yeah that does definitely indicate there's something more to it. As much as we might think of Phil as a laid back character, he's a professional athlete and you don't make the elite without having a hard edge to you. The fact he seems relaxed about not playing suggests there's an agreement about it

half of people here thought he would be a ballon dor winner by the time he hits 26.

Not sure hes in agreement about not playing, heard from a number of people now he has requested his contract talks be suspended until he is given a clear indication upon what his role is.
