Arsenal (N) | League Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Absolutely great day out yesterday. When Pep gets it right they are a joy to watch. Personally I'd rather watch a team trying to win than one trying not to lose, even if it means you have to take the rough with the smooth. The second half it was city trying to win the game and we were dominant.

Even the pre match details like the motivational video and the city flags were better than arsenal's tiny flags. Wonder if these things make any difference or if it's just winner bias making them seem relevant?

With the greatest of respect he is not.

One of Englands best players. The bottle to take that penalty in '96.... after 1990.

(I don't know your age iwasthere1968) but if you were really were there in 1968 I'm guessing older, so surprised at your comment.

I know S. Pierce had a very bad time as Man City Manager (a record of home defeats yes?) but did he have the money we have now. No.

Furthermore, he has had a terrible time in his family recently (I can't understand why TalkSport haven't told him to take time off - I guess talking football is his way of dealing with it so he has asked to return - google it if you don't know)

A proper hero this guy and not a ****

His head must be so messed up, sometimes he is going to say the wrong thing (to our ears) whilst trying to be the neutral commentator talksport want him to be.
You've not convinced me .

That second half was a tactic masterclass.

The 4 man press completely baffled the Arsenal defence.

Every single player worked their socks off and played their part.

Thought there was a strong sense of arrogance from Arsenal before the game, fans thinking it was a foregone conclusion, that "hype video" beforehand which screamed entitlement rather than experience.

Beautiful irony of them giving it large before the game only to perform the worlds fastest exit as their players went up for the losers medals.

Only down side for me was that it kicked off royally in 541 for the first 5/10 mins of the game. Blue on blue which took an age for the stewards to even get to. Ridiculous what drink does to people.

Just seen footage of Stuart Pearce commentating on our game for talksport. He’s absolutely gutted and clearly unhappy when nico makes it 1-0 sat there shaking his head. What is former city captain Stuart Pearce problem with us?
Exactly the same when we won the CL, he was in the ground and was selected to commentate as a former City player/manager.

There was more excitement from Adrian Durham than him and he's talksports chief wind-up merchant.

Hes a salty bitter twisted old man. Fuck him.

Cheers to all fuckers who moaned about Ake in the starting 11. What a performance of all after difficult 20 minutes. Build on that, champions again Ole Ole View attachment 187059

He was superb, helped by not playing a lot to be fair, but apart from Nico with his goals that won it, Ake was very close as to being man of the match for me.

Not the first time hes done it mate, hes got form for it.

Did exactly the same after full time whistle in Istanbul... he looked distraught.

If he cant show a little joy after the club he managed and played for winning one of the most coveted club trophies in football then he clearly has an issue with City.

Hes always talking up the other teams he has association with and I think he knows exactly what hes doing.

See that Arteta mentions us only having the two shots on goal

Arsenal had four shots on target, but my guess is that hes forgotten that three of those came in ten seconds where Trafford made a triple save; i think their fourth would have been the Calafiori header which id have saved

It was total dominance and I think the commentary team were expecting that to change with 30 minutes to go, but we didnt give them a sniff

What Khus did by making that tackle was make sure nobody went near him after that.

The other thing of note was NOT making any subs until the end. Pep never used to make many substitutions in the earlier years and these days we only seem to start shipping goals after substitutions have been made and the balance of the team has been disturbed, so I'd like to see a return to that "no subs unless absolutely necessary or until the match is won" policy.
Generally, subs aren't needed if you're playing well, no knocks or fatigue, and you don't have an eye on the next game.

Second half to a man we destroyed them, 10 / 10 for everyone.

Was Havertz off side for the Jame Trafford triple save?

Their keeper, watched it again when I got home.
1 yellow card offence, fair enough;
Quickly followed by a second and then a third!

Just watch it, it's ridiculous.

If that's s a gentle hold starting outside the box, player (usually a Rag), continues into the box then flops to the floor, the ref often gives a penalty!

Anway, much better making 11 look shit.
