Arsenal (N) | League Cup Final | Post Match Thread

tbf people are excited about Dowman because he's a (school) year below even Rooney when he broke through - that is exceptional. you cant compare with a regular young player like o reilly.
i will guarantee if arsenal were winning yesterday he'd have been brought on great pr

i just want equal playing field

Get the fuck in, you beautiful blue bastards!
What an unexpected and pleasant surprise yesterday turned in to. They all gave everything in that game and well deserved the trophy.
Gonna watch it all again now.

Absolutely knackered today after all the driving but was truly worth it! Fantastic performance all round from the boys. First half I thought we were far too slow and very frustrating, second half (who’d have thought it) we came flying out the traps and really took the game to them. Special mention to obviously Nico who is our little gem, Nunes, Ake, Khusanov and Cherki who were all superb! And I have to say I much prefer James Trafford to Donnarumma, it wouldn’t bother me too much if he was to leave at the end of the season. Doku and Semenyo played very well too and going forward it has to be Cherki through the middle with those two occupying the wings! Who’d have thought after our first final at the new Wembley against Stoke in 2011 we would be playing them again here in 2026!!! Our fans were absolutely incredible yesterday, I love our club to bits CMON CITY!!!!

Worrying thing is the loss of form and confidence it’s going from temporary to the norm as it’s been nearly two seasons of being in the form he is in now. It’s a World Cup year and like all players you would thinking he would be chomping at the bit to be on the pitch, he’s in the England squad this international break but it wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t get a call up for the summer.

Bernardo Silva is up the pecking order for the starting line up and we don’t even know if he will be here next season. Maybe a Summer off would help Foden as he hasn’t had one since the treble season and even then they were playing up until June.
I absolutely agree he needs the summer off we should remember he’s been in the limelight and shouldering huge expectations since his breakthrough season in 2018/19.

Does anyone feel like they’ve had ten tonnes knocked out of them?

The adrenaline of the day, non stop singing, the coach travel have made me feel shattered. All worth it though!

I was wiped out last night as soon as i got back to the hotel, absolutely drained. I think it was not winning a trophy last season, losing the last two cup finals and everybody writing us and Pep off, championing Arsenal as the top dogs. I was desperate to win that trophy yesterday to shut the fuckers up for five minutes and to prove a point.

Was this in 232/233 mate? There was rows and rows of Arsenal fans that made it obvious who they supported.

The more I think about the old lad getting whacked off one of them and missing us lift the cup, the more I feel I need to put a complaint in. The stewards did nothing to protect him or any of the City fans around that area.
Yes I think it was, how these cowards are in our section is questionable I know the lad is going to contact the Club today to complain, but justice will prevail as the Arsenal coward was arrested and charged, I was sat several blocks away so didn't see what happened, yes there were quite a few dotted about, me thinks third party ticket sales are the cause of the problem.

A magnificent day that. Having duffed the last 2 finals we were in it made that one feel all the sweeter, facing Arsenal down and beating them - been a match goer since 1977 and I never take these days for granted. Our end was superb with the Blues roaring the lads on, and the delirium when the goals went in will stay with me for a while - particularly with the huge bruise on my shin I now hold as a souvenir.

Thought Nunes, Ake, Cherki and Doku shone in particular. Cherki expecially in terms of wanting and having the ball in small spaces when the pressure is on - to have the cojones to do that and want the ball in such situations is a god send on a Cup final occasion. Delighted for local boy Blue Nico to be the match winner on a day we again placed another pot in the trophy cabinet, a testament to his development as a player.

For Nathan Ake to drop that performance in having been a bit part player this season, tells you what a great pro he is and what a wonderful servant to the club hes been too - calm and assured I dont think he gave the ball away once. Doku was our out ball all game, and provided a contsant threat - in short White simply couldnt handle him; finally a shout out to Matheus Nunes, who was superb at both ends of the pitch yesterday, ran his socks off and made a strong case that he can be a long term solution in that right back spot - a man who fully deserved his winners medal. A tremendous day and that was the Clubs 30th major pot - unlike Ferguson and United I dont really count Charity Shields - which was another milestone in itself.
A fantastic post. Totally agree with that.

Anyone clock the awkward trophy presentation?
Whoever was presenting the trophy wasnt letting go was he

Vibes of joe royle at blackburn away if you remember
Assume it was someone associated with Carabao and they were under the misapprehension that they were supposed to jointly lift the trophy in the air with Bernardo. Was certainly a bit bizarre - cultural differences maybe?
