45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

Pace and defending are obviously his strengths but I have the feeling with some more coaching his passing will improve no end. At just 22 he's already becoming a must pick player for us - he could be the mainstay of our defence for years. You can tell that he is also gaining respect from opposition strikers who know they can't beat him in a foot race.

I love it that he is clearly popular with his teammates too. Nothing flashy off the field, he seems a decent humble human - class.

Feels like he gets better when he is on a yellow card, focuses that little bit more. Still needs to reign that in though with the needless diving in picking up yellows, it will cost him/us eventually, you always want that free yellow card worthy foul in your pocket as somebody who effectively plays sweeper. Bloody love him though, has to be him and a partner going forward, the entire defence doesnt work without him playing.

Rapidly becoming my favourite City player...quick, aggressive, strong, quick, humble, likes a tackle, quick...

Sounds mad but i think he has got taller since he signed Just looks bigger out there. Not surprising as he is only 5 i suppose.

Got to give him the games for me now for rest of season and let him build partnership with Guehi. Ideal for high line , think our test will be how we deal with corners and free kicks as we don’t have the tallest centre backs ( not short but not the big 6 foot 4/5 monsters like VVD or Bastoni). Donna not the most dominant keeper on crosses doesn’t help which I guess is why we need Haaland and O Reilly doing there bit in those situations. All that said he is looking like he will develop into a world class centre back and get there quickly.

I've said for a while that these central Asian countries may have a lot of untapped potential if they improve the infrastructure for football.

My parents came from the Soviet Union and we have friends from ex soviet countries like Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan etc. And one thing I know is a lot of people from these places are great athletes. You only have to look how good their boxers are, because that's one sport they actually put time into developing. If they do that with football from grass roots level, then don't be surprised to see some more real talent emerge from that part of the world in the future. Especially now the Uzbeks qualified for the world cup, and they're producing a player like Khusanov, it may just be a little glimpse into that part of the world starting to produce talent.

Interesting part of the world. Their athletes always have some ridiculous power or speed or agility.
