Arsenal (N) | League Cup Final | Post Match Thread

Let's face it - if Arse had gone on to win the Quadruple it would have been an insult to all those great footballing teams who had tried and failed in the past. City did football a big favour yesterday. Let's just hope we stop them winning the Treble as well. Same reason applies. They're not a patch on our Treble winning side, nor Ferguson's rags.

PSG, Bayern or possibly Madrid will stop them winning the CL. I'd predict they win the league and we do the domestic cup double.

I think it's more just a case of what side of the stadium we're on. Remember the route from all the East side pubs to the ground is right down Wembley way, whereas from the Green Man you don't need to go down Wembley way.

What I will say is that going to Wembley Central after the game got me straight on an Overground train. I was already back at Euston, whilst my mates who'd left at the same time as me were only just boarding a tube from Wembley Park.
I was on the jubilee line to London Bridge from Wembley Park at around 730 and couldn't believe the number of blues getting off at Waterloo and London Bridge the majority of people on the tube; even on my train to Tonbridge 3 blues got off. On the tube there were two Arsenal fans getting it big time from a city fan, nowt they could do as he was 6 years old! Fair play to the lads they took it in good spirit and even just kept on chatting to him and he just kept on giving it them, they did say Cherki was class with the skill he showed

Funny thing is, I still don’t see that one proper, undeniable world beater at Arsenal. No one you look at and think "yeah, he's dragging them through this no matter what."
It’s more just a group of really good players who all know their jobs and stick to it.

They play well, they're organised, everything looks tidy but it can feel a bit samey. Like you know exactly what you're going to get every week. No real chaos, no moments where someone just does something outrageous and changes a game on their own - it's all a bit controlled and risk averse.

They're basically a sexier version of Atalanta under Gasparini. Same intensity, similar structure, same "everyone knows their role" setup, just with better players and more money behind it. Everything's coached, everything's drilled but it can feel a bit predictable. I'm still amazed how they are top of the league to be honest and won every CL game.

You can respect it, definitely. It wins games. But as a neutral, you're not exactly on the edge of your seat. It’s more "that was solid" than "that was unreal football".

They’re very good at what they do, just not that exciting to watch most of the time. They'll never be remembered as one of the great teams.

Only caught the last 20 mins as I was stuck in travel but seemed like the game was already over and nothing much was going on.

First 15 minutes sounded feisty and then we just had one way traffic to the inevitable. Is that a fair summary?

Yeah we got that Overground line from Euston to Wembley Central, the Lioness Line it's called, I was reading it's only been open since November 2024 so I don't think a lot know about it yet....it was so nice and quiet compared to getting the Metropolitan line to Wembley Park...I was thinking about using it on the way back and wished I had now as got stuck in the dreaded traffic light system on Wembley Way

It was great to see, however I’ve noticed it now takes us 25 minutes or so to get into that rhythm. If we can manage to play like that from the first whistle then we’ll give this league a bloody good go, but we still do look a little vulnerable before we settle in.
The entire team has changed in a year, from the remnants of a failing Treble winning/4inarow team, post KDB. To transform it into a side capable of winning cups again so quickly shows how good a manager Pep really is. We may run out of games for the title this year, or maybe not, but I'm enjoying watching our games again, we're on an upward trajectory with a very young team.

I think that's pretty well summarised. They do what they do very well, as you say, and they're a lot less flakey this year than pretty much everyone else. I don't think any Arsenal fan who has any kind of memory whatsoever would compare this team with our treble winning side, Ferguson's treble winning side, or especially the great Arsenal team of the late 90s and early noughties, which never won a treble.
I am 85-90% convinced that they will not suddenly collapse, and lose a bunch of matches. They'll very, very probably be champions this year. By contrast, I'd be pretty astonished if they won the Champions League. The F.A. Cup? Who knows? I now think we'll have our say in that. Yesterday must surely have given us belief.
Interestingly, when we changed our approach tactically in yesterday's match, not by all that much but a bit, they were visibly discombobulated.

It’s been running for decades just with different branding and stock. It was the north London line under BR. Silverlink after privatisation. London Overground under TFL and recently renamed the lioness line also under TFL. It is a good line. The London Overground network is a bit of a success story under TFL.

I still hate their fans, but it's been funny watching City and Liverpool fans thaw a bit on how good both teams were at their peak compared to this Pulis-ball shite Arsenal have been producing.

And can someone explain why Kepa was allowed to play with the ball for nearly a minute ? What happened to the 5 second rule ? Unbelievable the amount of shameful timewasting from minute 1 from arse , so so happy that football played the right way was the winner , more than you believe

Been going there for years and only discovered a pub called The Royal Oak last season . It’s a great boozer and does good food . When you come out of the Station walk right through the shopping centre then turn left and the boozer is set back.
I know that one but it wasn't open when we got there at 11.30 so we went round to the George.

Ah right I see that makes sense, I think it coz they updated the colours of those lines which made me think they were new, since I last lived in London about 15 years ago
