Arsenal (N) | League Cup Final | Post Match Thread

What a great day that was and a brilliant City performance. So many excellent performances particularly Nico O’Reilly. Where would we have been without three saves by James Trafford. Doku, Cherki and Bernardo were great too. Terrific atmosphere. Great to share it with my 17 year.

They can only play one of PSG, Bayern or Madrid and tgst can only be if they reach the final. I wouldn't put it past liverpool to reach the final either.
arsenal are the best team on their side of the draw and I cannot see them not reaching the final.
It will be interesting to see how the Carabao defeat affects them.
I think the FA cup will go to the winner of our game with liverpool.
arernal look a tired team but have favourable Cup draws and may be far enough ahead in the league to hold on to their lead.
Scousers will get ripped to shreds by PSG. They did last year when they were 3x the team

PSG, Bayern or possibly Madrid will stop them winning the CL. I'd predict they win the league and we do the domestic cup double.
Us or the Dippers might have something to say regarding the other domestic cup.
There not winning the FA cup this season admittedly the title is there's to lose and they won't F-ck that up.

When asked what Pep said at HT to change the game, Nico O’Reilly said Pep told them to feed Cherki down the right side and in the channel.

That allowed NOR the freedom to bomb on down the left, with Saka not being able to defend an opinion, let alone a player like Nico!

Interesting

When the second half kicked off, Cherki actually was essentially hugging the right touchline for the first few minutes and Semenyo was inside. They did swap back pretty sharpish, so I do reckon they'd just been pulled into each other's position and then moved back when there was a lull. But I specifically remember wondering if they' had been swapped over at HT. Evidently not but I did notice Cherki still closer to that right channel

Let's face it - if Arse had gone on to win the Quadruple it would have been an insult to all those great footballing teams who had tried and failed in the past. City did football a big favour yesterday. Let's just hope we stop them winning the Treble as well. Same reason applies. They're not a patch on our Treble winning side, nor Ferguson's rags.
Let’s hope we win the domestic treble and Vinnie K wins the Champions League, seeing the tarquins win a quadruple of 4 seconds would be mesmeric

Pep has now won 46% of the three domestic trophies available in his time at city

That's an incredible stat. And could have been 50% without blatant off refereeing.

For referenceand comparison to other long term top managers
Klopp is at 14%
Wenger at 15%
Ferguson is at 28%

Funny the mixed coverage the Cherki keepy uppy moment is getting. I for one loved it. Can’t recall a player like him here certainly under Pep. Raheem did a couple of step overs at anfield that time. Also recall Erling and Jack killing a game off with much shithousery by the corner flag against Newcastle, might have been another team. Closest who comes to mind would be Rodney Marsh. Ryan the new Rodney. Love it

Ive not read previous posts in this thread. Yesterday Arsenal were completely thrown a swerve ball by the greatest manager of all time.
They didn't know what to do when we didn’t press them. CTID
Their players are not allowed to think for themselves. Everything is dictated by Capt Black on the touch line except set pieces when the set piece coach jumps in.

And can someone explain why Kepa was allowed to play with the ball for nearly a minute ? What happened to the 5 second rule ? Unbelievable the amount of shameful timewasting from minute 1 from arse , so so happy that football played the right way was the winner , more than you believe
I think you need to read the rules of the game ;-)

It was actually interesting to watch us stand off. Our approach completely flummoxed the Arsenal keeper, their back line and midfield !
